Land's End Trial 2013

So I've just entered this on my HP2 - have been meaning to do it for some time, so New Year, new resolutions etc.

For those that don't know - it's a long distance trials event, run over night that finishes in Cornwall over Easter weekend. I believe it's about 240 miles... It's typically done by classic cars and bikes, although some less 'classic' than others

Anybody else done it before and have tips for me??

Did you start at Bridgewater? Or join the competing groups at one of the other starts?

EDIT - and what about petrol? My little tank will not make it 240 miles, especially off-road!

I used to quite fancy a go at the classics on a bike but now think they would be good fun in a sidecar outfit.

Might pop down, camp for the weekend and cheer you on up Blue Hills as it's a lovely spot to spectate.

Petrol stations open, some stay open specially, all marked in road book.

I started at a Rugby Club somewhere I think, or Haynes Motor Museum.

Only done 2 LANDS ENDS, 2 EXETER, 1 EDINBOURGH

Off road is only BYWAYS that you would normally do or in case of Lands End, some fantastic ENGLISH HERITAGE woods normally OUT OF BOUNDS.

Tip take a JET BOILER, can be a lot of waiting around, you can make a cup of tea or coffee.

I may enter the sidecar outfit

BLUE HILLS 2 you`ll be fine 1150 flew up, thought I had smash front wheel as I hit a concrete step halfway up.

My sidecar outfit would never make it up its far too heavy.

GOD I`m sounding like a know it all.

Thanks chap - I like the suggestion of the a jetboil... although may just cheat with a Thermos

What you need is a support crew. Spare bike, couple of land cruisers and a trailer.

Join the MCC (not the cricket one

)

May need an ACU licence?

Download the regs & send them off

Hope you get an entry, usually oversubscribed

Bike should be fine, there was a Xchallenge doing it last week

Strict on tyres, check the regs - you may need trials tyres like Pirelli MT43

You can do it all online chap - just register with the site and it's available in the members area. You fancy running together, you can request to run consecutively to an existing entrant. PM me if you fancy it :thumb2

You can do it all online now

and as for tyres, the key point it that they have to be road legal. They also request not to use the very soft trials tyres. The regs specifically suggest TKCs and T63s

Ok changed a bit, since I last did it

Sub 600cc bikes I think must still use Trials tyres to qualify for the awards

Pirelli MT43 are road legal & stiffer so most use them in smaller bikes, whereas Michelin X11 are the soft proper trials ones & aren't stamped road legal

I feel like spoofing another entry to see what is happening here as I completed my entry and I certainly don't have an ACU number!
