The exhaust flap squeaks when I turn the ignition on.
Any tips as to what to use to lubricate it and where?
Copaslip any good?

Mine started squeaking at three months old. Replaced under warranty

It's a carbon compound bushing and theres no easy way to get at it, let alone lube it.
Unfortunately, on the LC's it seems to be an expensive fix. New exhaust section.
Different people have had different experiences getting it replaced by BMW. Good luck.

Several treads exist on this issue and it seems that flap not covered by extended warranty. My lubrication described here and lots of contributors to which paste is best.

Remove the cables from the servo to the exhaust flap. It will then stay in the open position and cause no further problems.

Easy job and they can be refitted when the bike is sold.

Only there for noise regs at low revs

Hi - do you mean the spring cables on the exhaust. Does anyone have a pic with a arrow for us thickos!

Thanks

Fingers crossed then!
Think it was problems with the extended warranty. Small print excludes exhausts.

I split the end can off & spray directly with copperslip anti seize, no issues - bit of a faf but I quite like fafing about with the GS so no issue for me, I tie it in with dropping the oil in the rear bevel box & greasing the drive shaft splines with Stabarag grease once a year

Cheers, I'll give it a coat of looking at during the weekend.
It working OK but a bit noisy when you turn the ignition on.

I removed the one on my Hexhead and replaced it with a piece of pipe I got off ebay no issues but wont remove the one on the Rallye till the warranty is up

Mine was doing that last year. Just because its squeaking doesn't mean the interior is going bad, sometimes its just the outside spring. I took the cover off the top and sprayed the spring and cables with some graphite lube, that did the trick.

FWIW, I just rechecked mine at 30k miles, and it still pivots nicely. The interior exhaust is pretty clean. I guess the fuel here in Massachusetts is pretty clean burning.
