Well the lemon turd has surpassed its ability to keep on giving :(

Arrived at work this morning, and turned the bike off no problem...

left the key in the ignition while i put on the discklock etc.

as i went to take the key out, i caught the key and turned the bike back on ...

turned it off immidiatly, and pulled the key...

Kombi stayed lit??

Looks like i have a free upgrade to keyless .... :(

Ignition will lock, unlock but will not turn off ...

In the end i disconnected the battery ..

Is it an easy fix.. or do i need a new ignition assy?

can a SH part be used?? or is it main stealer only?

:(

Try leaving the battery disconnected to reset the ecu then reconnect and try again. Maybe ok now

Just think of the book you'll be able to write.

My life as a GS owner !

Does it have an alarm fitted ? Thinking whether it needs key coded to it.

Good luck, never rains but it still shits on you.

Hi
This should be simple fix !
Look on the bottom of the ignition there's small plastic box with small plug going into it that is responsible for switching the bike on and off
If you have any more trouble just change that nr 12 on the picture

Should have bought my old bike off tufty:D
As pointed out above, the electrical part of the lock/ switch is available separately, not too expensive.
I think I have one in my travel spares left over from 1200 ownership,
If I can find it you are more than welcome to it

Cheers Mikey for the offer :), i grabbed a quote today just incase. i can order it monday and it will be with me tuesday -

Ive dropped the offending unit off, and had a delve inside sod all in it TBH 2 microswitches and some potting -

its only a two wire feed out , with a 2 stage cam to trip the switches however both are linked by so why not use one switch?

Once microswitch is deffo sticky, the other appears to be working ok - there both drowning in contact cleaner as i type ;)

I'm going to be away next week so the bike isnt needed .

If i can get this one revived, it may get me through ;)

although looking at the part numbers they dont stack with real oem -

Ihave a PN of 6131767511 on the switch - real-oem gives the PN as 61318543110 saying it was a running change from 2012

So not sure if yours will work ??

I'll have a chat to my tame parts man on Monday, and see if he can shed light on it ...

Might be worth throwing in a bag and bringing to Dent :D i can have alook see then

:)

I checked the switch this morning, contacts still switching correctly.

There's not a lot to the unit a double throw cam, and two microswitches linked on one pin.

The connectors are potted, but that has dried out and peeled away (on the bottom of the switches)

I worked contact cleaner into the switches and left it overnight.

looks like its gunge collecting round the rubber caps on the microswitches..

All reassembled and back in the bike and appears to be working OK.

I'll check out the PN issue when i can get onto the local parts dept

When I replaced mine the new part was a different colour and looked a little different, fitted ok though and has been fine for years now,
