Hey Johnny boxer A
All the plastics were originally in shite quality and had faded and no amount of heat or chemicals etc were going to make them look good and given I am painting everything else it made sense to paint all the plastics as well. I initially gave the black plastics a coat of etch primer, build primer, a scratch coat and 2 light coats of black. Once the 2 coats of black are dry I keyed the surface very lightly and then give it 2 more light coats. The final stage is to lightly key again and apply two coats of 2k clear lacquer.
I was advised by my mate who is a sprayer to follow this procedure as 1k paint is made up of thinners and paint in the can and requires multiple light coats and and a good clear lacquer to seal / protect it. If I was doing it over again I would have got the black in 2k as I did for the swing arm rear drive etc as it just requires a scratch coat and two to three coats allowing for enough time for it to flash off between coats.
Cheers
