Barn find - 1994 Strada 1000 - recommissioning.......

That’s excellent mate and I find there’s not many better ways to spend the day in the shed making something better than it was. Radio on with plenty of tea coffee and biscuits :p
There’s a few jobs that are not fun to do as I’m sure you know but it’s a great feeling when done. It’s the only therapy a man needs especially with these summer evenings :beerjug:

Highly recommended.
This is my second one after selling my first bike ramp & letting it go with it. :blast

Bought it home on Friday & used it under the GS to take front tyre wheel out for new tyye to be fitted.

Just bought the one in the piccy for my mate for helping me to get the Strada running & for doing a few other jobs that I know he will help me with during this resto / recommissioning, knowing he wouldn't take payment for.. ( you gotta treat folk reet.) .. :thumb

eBay no 173794535830 but plenty more on ebay.. :thumb

Just search - motorcycle lift..

Wouldn't feck around trying to make one for 30 smackers.

Easily copes with this Guzzi, my previous Guzzi's, 11XX GS's & GSA's..

Found emulsified oil, when I dropped it out of the engine. Picture 2 :(

I asked my mechanic mate for his thoughts.

He said look for water ingress - none I could see.

Next he said split engine breather pipe or blocked ball valve in engine breather pipe.

Pictures 1 & 3 blocked ball valve at base of pipe & top of engine case. :(

Reet bastard to get too :blast

Now got to clean all breather pipes, oil ways & flush it all out..

Darn lucky to have a great mechanic at the end of the phone & only 5 minutes away who has a Le Mans mk5, has built a few Guzzies & has his own business specialising in Italian motors, including high end..

Piccie 1 2003
Piccie 2 2017

Same Le Mans, but different SP3 in 2017

To many short runs, engine not getting up to temp ?

When you get the engine running it would probably be an idea to put a flushing oil through, or a couple of oil changes in quick succession.

Might look clean, but you really don't want that emulsified oil in the main or big end bearings.

No none history on usage b4 it was parked up for 11yrs...
And no information on where & how it was stored, its definitely been near damp because of the corrosion upto the swing arm.
But the breathers can get blocked on checking various forums & Web sites...

Will get a couple of quick oil changes, all breathers have been cleaned out...

All part of the journey :thumb

Sump & sump extension deep cleaned - piccies 2 & 3

painted & lacquered - piccy 1

Never noticed it had an extension on it until today :blast

Should of noticed by the longer securing Allen bolts..

The only way I can do these resto's is cost effectively, so a neighbour had 3 double quilts, pillow sets + a few T shirts going FOC.

So I've spent 3 hours cutting them up..

For rags :D
