I did it this spring, it involved a 769 mile day for me on the little X Country, but it was superb. To be fair the weather was nice, it wouldn't have been very nice in the hissing rain. It took me all over some old haunts and I saw new parts of my home county I didn't know existed.... I did the Gold with Lands End, I can't see the point in going for anything less.
Anyone else up for doing it this year - good map reading skills are essential because the Sat Nav is pretty useless, the checkpoints are designed to mislead sat nav/mobile phone users!
