I was hoping for some info from the chaps here with larger thighs -

I've been cycling all my life along with probably one too many squats in the gym

I've also lost some weight recently so now am having issues finding good quality textile trousers that fit my thighs

I used to wear Stadler and Rukka textile trousers in 60 (because I needed the thigh width), but the waist was always way too loose - held up by belts/suspenders. Now that I've lost some weight for the waist I need a 56 size, but my thighs are the same and the 56/58 trousers don't get over my legs, and the 60 are way too big at the waist to be comfortable

Any suggestions for brands that are looser fitting on the legs - a more relaxed style?

Not jeans however. Looking for some top quality gear with good protection - mainly for touring in warm weather.

Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Cheers

I have a pair of Klim Overland trousers.

I bought them for the very reason that they are baggy, over boot 'off-road' style trousers which means they are extremely comfy and allow easy movement. This coupled with the huge front and rear zipped vents means they are great in hot weather. They are Gortex laminated and have hip and knee armour. They also have a velcro calf size adjustment (which I've shown in the photo) so together with that and the lose fit you'd have to be a right freak for them not to fit comfortably ;)

Mine are a good 6 or 7 years old now and still 100% waterproof and appear to have many years left, they are great quality!

I guess the only downside is being a loose fit the armour is not held in place as well as tight fitting trousers but I value the comfort of them so can live with that.

I'm not familiar with the current Klim range but am sure they will still do this style or trouser.

Stuff with “American fit” is looser in the thighs. Klim, as previously mentioned is good in this respect.

I have two pairs of trousers from Hideout Leather made to measure service.
I’m sure they can also alter stuff as well as have some gear in there at the moment and they are not too far from you

Thanks everyone, much appreciated - will take a look at Klim and Hideout.

Touring in warm weather, you say...? https://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/pants/adventure-pants.html

They don't have a waterproof membrane. They're definitely a loose fit and having ridden 4000 miles, halfway across the USA and back in 40 deg C temperatures, in mine, I can confirm that the vents work well.

I'm a bit biased as I had some input into their design and production, several years ago.
