Paul- I know you're excited about coming on the trip in April but I thought I'd better come clean about how rubbish Morocco actually is...it's only fair :blast

These are all pics from one single trip, in November '08- not a collection of the worst ones, this is how awful it is from just one trip!! :doh:shout:tears

Firstly, the roads.....you ought to see the condition of them!! :blast

There's gravel on the corners, which obviously makes them really unpleasant to ride :(
449471314_spPnV-XL.jpg

There are hardly any roads that are suitable for a motorcycle- stones, potholes, rough bits - not something that anyone in their right mind would want to ride :blast
449473807_QuHE9-XL.jpg

When you do find some reasonable tarmac, I'm afraid it's just as bad....long, straight and dead boring, I can only apologise in advance mate :eek
449474428_tDsw3-XL.jpg

Unfortunately, a lot of the roads you'll have to suffer are in really muddy places- in fact, that's all you can see for miles, boring, nasty, unnatractive mud with no redeeming eatures whatsoever.......
449472394_hnwM2-XL.jpg

They're crap at health and safety as well....it's horrendous!!!! Roads with no barriers on both sides, no white lines, no signage and so on...they let you ride anywhere, willy nilly- look at Timolgra here, plainly not enjoying himself because of the utter lack of the safety feature we all know and love so dearly
449471687_gyjY3-XL.jpg

Whilst I'm talking about the roads, I'd better mention the abysmal traffic- nose to tail jams, you can barely move for all the cars and bikes following each other at walking pace
449474764_cwgjc-XL.jpg

If you're lucky enough to find an empty road, forget it- they don't go anywhere exciting at all.......just boring dead ends :(
449473943_vQbZB-XL.jpg

There are many other hazards on the road as well, which make it barely worth bothering about.
Traffic going the wrong way down clearly marked one way systems with scant regard for others for example

449473399_MfEvc-XL.jpg

Which isn't the end of the world because frankly, there's nothing to look at on the bloody roads anyway....you could fall asleep it's so featureless

449473059_9Cqtz-XL.jpg

No conveniences either........you have to bloody well ride all the way to the top of a mountain to find a cafe!

449473290_VrEj2-XL.jpg

Did I mention the boredom of such featureless scenery??

449479756_8XQ8L-XL.jpg

I'm afraid there are puddles as well, so there's a pretty good chance you'll end up uncomfortable and miserable with wet feet :mmmm

449480737_YvSE6-XL.jpg

Or even worse!!! :eek

449480940_mV6WD-XL.jpg

No bloody fun at all!!
449480534_PHuwe-XL.jpg

Very often, there aren't any roads at all....just none.
This is when it gets to be no fun whatsoever I'm afraid
449478348_q8VW8-L.jpg

It's hard, not having a straight line to follow
449478473_gxa6t-L.jpg

And the sand gets up yer bum, in your ears and inbetween your toasy woasies too :tears
449477781_59Pr2-L.jpg

Conditions are treacherous and any areas with no roads at all should be avoided at all costs :eek
449474260_B8Jfa-L.jpg

There's not even any public loos- you have to have a casual squat at the side of the road and hope nobody notices!!!
449473518_CzNgj-XL.jpg

It's one of the worst things about Morocco ya know....the intense, unremitting heat- oh when will it end!!!
449472955_tKUZN-XL.jpg

Two unhappy disgruntled customers walking home in disgust
449480281_cuwP9-L.jpg

Crime is rife in Morocco- We can usually arrange alternative transport should your motorcycle be stolen though
449479347_ESEzR-L.jpg

Vandalism is rife as well...here you can see the hideous results of yob culture and the boredom of the Moroccan youth- worse than graffiti in the UK, in Morocco they paint whole areas!! **oh the inhumanity!!**
As you can see, it makes the area most unnatractive
449479615_btyNg-L.jpg

And after dark, it turns into a grim urban wasteland of burnt out cars, derelict buildings and winos roaming the streets
449479420_gBLmp-L.jpg

I suppose we ought to be grateful for one thing- nightime hides the awful smog problem they have in Morocco- you can clearly see dense clouds of pollution here in the foreground, about 40 miles away from where the photo was taken!! :eek
449480098_3ihZ5-L.jpg

Most of the Smog originates from Marrakech- the centre of all evil, it's a million miles away from anything interesting or scenic, just stuck out on its own in a dustbowl
449472118_Ypsgc-L.jpg

Have I mentioned the atrocious food yet???
449472670_QHj5D-L.jpg

Stale and unhealthy for you, unpleasant tasting and anything but fresh!
449471058_khnTq-L.jpg

The hotels are basic and boring, no facilities or anything like that
449469891_e68hF-L.jpg

They're not very pleasant places to be at all.....quite unnapealing in fact
449471987_3RXZj-L.jpg

Most lack colour or any sort of vibrancy and are just dry, dusty godforsaken holes lacking any comforts
449471453_fLJg4-L.jpg

In some, the local birds will eye you up disdainfully
449469972_MZZS5-L.jpg

We have a policy on our trips....NO FUN ALLOWED!!! Which I'm sure you'll adhere to.....
449472787_2UjkR-L.jpg

You won't find any friendly people on the trip either I'm afraid
449472281_uUgUm-L.jpg

Sometimes it can get a bit depressing
449470907_EuSoX-L.jpg

And it's downhill from then on :blast
449470729_pj4UW-L.jpg

I'm afraid the whole place is falling apart
449470322_ejmJP-L.jpg

Did I mention that the scenery is crap?? :blast
449470576_SMSmb-L.jpg

I wouldn't bother bringing your camera mate
449473158_Udvok-L.jpg

'cos there's bugger all to see or take pics of :(
449479955_kX5ZJ-L.jpg

So there we have it Paul.....I'm sorry if you've been misled- I know some people seem to like the place, but it hardly seems worth going to really does it :nenau

I'll see you in April :beerjug:

PS Many thanks to 'The boy David' and Tony Johnson for use of their pics :thumb

Why is it enjoyable dropping your bike and riding on those big stones :(

Exactly Tom.......it's a nightmare isn't it!!

Ferchrissakes, don't people realise these bikes are just too big to do anything other than ride to the Ace on???

Jeez what a dump..and i thought Canvey Island was shite.........
Gotta say you guys who take the 1150s and the 12s off road like that are very brave men indeed....... Think something smaller would be more fun though.:Motomartin

I haven't sorted them yet David......these were just a few that I picked out quickly from yours and Tony's......there are tonnes of other good ones!!

Looking forwards to your ride report......Just hoping it's not well over 15 months in coming like a certain other person's :augie:augie:augie

:D

We don't do anything that isn't perfectly rideable on a bigger bike....and I think you'd be surprised at just how capable they are!

TBH It's part of the fun, and challenge, taking the 12's and 11's into these places- they not only deal with the offroad stuff perfectly but then they're enormous fun on the awesome road sections inbetween pistes...the best of both worlds :thumb
