I need a new Lasertech 400-18 M/C 64V, who does the best mail order price?

Sherlocks used to do deals on tyre's.

Bought mine from local BMW independant.

I have used these guys a lot recently: good prices and free next day delivery: moto-tyres.co.uk

If you compare a few companies let us know who was the best

They are a hell of a price, they seem to be around £125 to £130, cheapest so far is maverick's http://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/ but it does seem that there are other far cheaper Metzellers. I'll stick to the Lasertec for now until the front one wears out then I'll start on a cheaper combination. I don't know enough about tyres to mix them. As I've said before I do find it hard to compare tyres, a new tyre is always miles better than the worn out one that it replaces however crap it is. :P

If you ride fairly steady and don't mind the period look then I think you could do a lot worse than the old Conti TK22/44. Now know as RB2 and K112.
Quite cheap and designed specifically for Airheads.

I received an e-mail yesterday from my local BMW Dealer (Motorrad Central - Dalkeith). They have an offer on at the moment:

Old-style Tourances, £195 a pair, fitted.

EXPs cost a bit more - I think they were £230 a pair, fitted (I didn't keep the e-mail, my Tourances are only half worn after 9,000 miles touring Turkey last year :D).

Other BMW Dealers may have similar promotions.

Bob.

Well, well, whaddya know, best price is £125 including tube and free fitting if I take the wheel off the bike myself, that's from Don down the road in Pwllheli. There was no carriage this time because he included it in another order he was getting.

Oh-ho, I've just noticed the TL in the details as offered- I had asked them for a Metzeler Lasertec 4.00-18 M/C 64V, make of that what you will, I'm too late because I've just placed my order with the local bloke. (I've highlighted the TL & M/C in red myself to show what I'm on about.)

Update. I called Delticom Tyres Ltd. (see my thread above) and asked them about the tyre they had on offer and they explained that TL meant that it was a TUBELESS TYRE. 'Course I knew that all along. ..:augie

So it looks a bargain. I do know that a tubeless tyre isn't ideal for a tube but that's what I've had to use for the last three or four rears. Does anyone here know better??

Delticom Tyres Ltd is an affiliate of the German company Delticom AG and do seem to be very competitive on German brands. I've yet to buy any bike tyres from them, but I bought some Continental winter tyres for the car back in November and they were significantly cheaper than most other suppliers.

I need a pair of tyres again and had another look at this. Is there any point in getting V rated tyres?
V is good for up to 149 mph 240 km/h
H is good for up to 130 mph 210 km/h
H will do me fine, I think.

Unless, of course, anyone has strong feelings against Perfect ME 77? :nenau

The OE spec. will state the minimum speed rating to be used. There is no problem using a higher rated tyre. H rated are the OE spec. for my R1150 but I often end up with V rated tyres as that is all that is in stock.

It's a pure guess, but I reckon the airheads will be H rated as original spec. but check your manual or fitment chart here http://www.metzelermoto.co.uk/web/fitment/metzeler/homeMotoFull.do
