Whilst I'm not that unhappy with the mirrors fitted I am thinking of fitting some auxiliary mirrors for the extra reassurance of covering the blind spots etc. has anyone any experience of these and how effective they are? I've seen some for sale on eBay for £76.50 which look ok...:beerjug:

I think its 1150 gs mirrors that fit,and probably be available for a lot less.
I had a pair on my RT,but took them off after a Grouse cracked one on the North York moors. 20 mins after i had bought the bike:eek:
I think 1200 ST mirrors will fit also if you want the oblong shape.

Suspect it depends on the year of your bike.
Let me know if you find a financially satisfactory solution to the pre 2010 model ! ..... realising that you may be looking at the twin cam model
(as I said in earlier post - I think std mirrors are very poor ) :beerjug:

IIRC any standard cheaply mirrors will fit. Just check thread. Think it should be 10mm fine?? Same as most jap bikes.

I use the HG Universal Replacement carbon effect mirrors. Usefully, the magnification is the same as the oem ones, the glass can be adjusted with your fingertip but best of all they cost £12.99 ea with a current discount of 30%!

I find I no longer use the originals as a quick sideways glance of the eyes with no head movement just makes life a whole lot easier (and no vibration or view of forearms on my '08 RT)

Sorry I have no URL but the HG online pdf catalogue has a selection of mirrors with two having the Universal Replacement name - I have the black carbon ones

RT's with the proper BMW indicator switches can take 1150GS mirrors. I take them off my GS and pop them on the RT for the winter so I can fit the muffs which completely obscure the stardard mirrors.

A 5 minute job.

Thanks all, very helpful. :beerjug:

Mine is a new bike so the 1150 GS mirrors should do the trick :D

I'll check out eBay but if anyone knows of any for sale please let me know.

Are they available new from anywhere? :thumb2

New RT's don't have proper indicator switches. They have the Japanese style nipple switch instead.

Here are the HG mirrors, and yes, the shed needs sorting!

nippy normans do a kit to fix to 2
twin cam models, you can then fit any 10mm mirrors £20 i think

I went for the full BMW kit it,s £130 from them but i did not pay that

Do you have any pictures of them fitted? :beerjug:

I know the bike in the photo that has them fitted. I've got a pair myself and they come with all the fittings required. Simple job to change. It does increase your rear visibility. The only downside is you can see the arms in the original mirrors but if you move these out and use them as blind spot mirrors it's fine.
