Yes it looks so much better than the standard GS12. The screen looks difficult to keep clean with road crud getting trapped between the 2 bits however.

Anybody know the seat height, even the low seat option on mine is a bit tall for a short person like me.

The bigger tank range would be really welcome as 200 miles between fill-ups is too low for European service stations distances a lot of the time.

895mm low....yes thats the low setting! and 915mm high!

I must agree with Zmeg re the colours - I would personally prefer the red and black seat with the Alu paintwork...kinda classic ADV (they did not bring the black and yellow version to SA). They really should give a mix and match option, much like the 'basic!' GS.

Can you confirm is the black we are seeing the actual tank fuel cell? Is the top "flank" black piece just cosmetic (nice to have the full enamel roundel back as in the 1150 ADV IMHO) and is it aluminium? I feel that the olive looks out of place with the grey of the black grey seat... if the seat grey was the same olive...? All too drab for me actually.

Is the screen all one piece? or is there an adjustable section ala GIVI? or is that just part of the angular trend style moulding?

I still find it strange that there is no ADVENTURE moniker anywhere on the bike - even on the back plate it just says R1150GS ?

Also I have questions as to what degree the rear sub frame is different - some are saying significantly reinforced, the PRO stuff seems to indicate merely modified a bit for the new rack frame... I will be highly unimpressed if some of it bolts to that Tupperware stuff at the back - I have seen numerous failures of it. There may have been a necessity to also modify frame somewhat for new centre stand??

Anyway I WANT ONE!

In reply to your questions:-

1) All the panels are just that, panels! The tank is underneath and is a one piece
plastic moulding. (This is what I have been told anyway)

2) I agree about the colour scheme as well. Personally, I think that they should have had it silver with black/red silver. But as all the parts are only plastic panels, they could be replaced to suit your own taste at a later stage, or if they get damaged, which ever is the sooner! Don't know at what cost though?

3) The screen is of a one piece construction, and it is adjustable just like the current 1200 one is.

4) On the tank side panels, olive green for example, it does have the "GS" letter embossed in them. Not very clear and transfers would have been better IMHO?

5) The rear seating subframe is the same as the current model, the increase in strength is on the actual bike frame underneath it. (This is what I have been told anyway) It is also very likely, but has yet to be confirmed, that the low seat from the 1200 will also fit, if so desired.

I'm guessing the shocks are around 20 mm longer
just like on the 1150 ADV,
so hope for the normal sized people

The top black part with the roundel is a plastic cover; the same material and finish as the matt black plastic cover used on some 12GS bikes (others are grey).

The bottom black part that you can see and which is protected by the loop of the crash bars is the lower part of the actual tank which extends upwards underneath the top black panel, the olive tank flank and the matt aluminium tank top.

The GS lettering on the tank flank panel (olive bit) is the same as the 12GS.

Significantly reinforced is what I was told.

ah, that sounds a lot better. that still puts the price up to €19,500 in ireland for abs, alarm, panniers and heated grips. ah, but what the hell, it's worth it

Are there more pictures taken of the bike besides the ones I've seen here? Because of the EICMA in Milan, the Dutch MotoRai was to be held in february next year instead of november this year. Now it's cancelled I've to manage to visit Brussels or be patient and wait till the introduction at the end of march next year... and I just can't wait to see the real thing...

Well said Judge, my 12GS waits in the garage for the sun to shine, and the roads to dry out. I have dreams of travelling, that may never happen, but when i'm riding to where ever, nothing else matters, a 5 mile ride or a 50 mile ride puts the same smile on my face,..........will the beak and the alloy rocker cover protectors from the adventure fit the 12GS?, they'll look nice in the garage, while i'm dreaming of spring and summer.
