Hi guys,

Some of you have been asking about it and now it is finally happening: the 1200GS is going to get a decent light bar ;)

The necessary measurements have been taken and the mounting hardware prototypes will be ready tomorrow.

So it's a matter of weeks now. Watch this space...

Cheers,
Michel

Protype mounted

Here it is, the first prototype is mounted:

I'm sending one to Mouse too.
He's going to be the UK test pilot :)

Sweet work...

Plasma or laser cut?

We tried getting our metal products cut by laser 6 or 7 years ago, just before I took over as metallurgist... My boss had a test using a univeristy research metal cutting laser... all it did was glow!

They sent it back saying 'sorry, can't cut it... you want to try spark or wire errosion.'

Can you re-cycle the 1150 version, in making the newer version???

No, the new one is longer.
Fitting an 1150 version under the 1200 beak is impossible, sorry.

Michel

Hi Migsel

Are the light bars available yet? How much are they?

Do they all come with the GS cut out as in the bottom picture, where the "G" is looks a bit weak, or is that deliberate to stop any crash forces being transmitted to the frame?

Very interested

No, I have only had 3 prototypes made so far. One is in Holland, one in the UK (Mouse) and one in my garage.

The price is not set yet. I estimate about 95 euros all in (p&p, VAT).

Yes.

That is part of the plan, but I found it a bit close too on the prototypes. That is an alteration I have already made to the drawings: to have the cutout a bit smaller, so I can move it away from the bend in the stainless steel.

Thanks for the interest :)

Michel

It's going to be a 2006 thing. I have ordered a batch on Monday but the laser cutter closes between Christmas and New Year. So they won't be ready before early January.

And the aluminium mounting bits are on order too. I don't have a confirmed delivery date for those yet, but they should be ready around the same time.

Cheers,
Michel

I would also be interested in this so keep us posted please. :thumb :clap :bounce1 Does anyone know anywhere near mid warwickshire/brum that would fit some lights to a 1200, as a business transaction of course?

...update...
* aluminium mounting bits: ready
* laser cut stainless light bars: delivery confirmed before the end of next week
* glass bead blasting of bars: early week 3
* kits ready to ship: end of week 3

It's taking a bit longer than expected, but they are definitely coming!

Cheers,
Michel
