Using Mapsource (NT V9) I have planned 12 routes in Spain for a trip I will be making n June - I managed to transfer about 7 of them successfully but the remainder I had problems with. I could see they weren't working properly when I tried to review the routes on the unit and it showed me a half screen map of Venezuela!!!

I deleted them and tried loading them again and I have now got all on except for one route - despite trying numerous times I am struggling with it.

The 2820 has the right maps loaded (same as PC) - The only thing I have noticed is that when I review the abortive route on the unit it shows the correct route name but shows 0 destinations even though when I transferred it across I had ticked the waypoints and route boxes (also the turn off after transferring box).

After hours of trying, any help or advice would be very much appreciated!!

I encountered this problem some time ago when transferring routes to my 2720. I'm not sure which firmware version on the device or release number of MapSource it started playing up with, but I've found that the solution is to leave the "Turn off after transferring" checkbox unchecked, i.e. set so that it doesn't turn the GPSR off/on once the transfer is complete.

I've never had a problem since, so I draw the conclusion that there's something adrift with the transfer communication protocol whereby the instruction to turn off the GPSR is received and actioned before the store process of the route is complete. I reported it to Garmin months ago but there has been a deafening silence on the matter :mmmm Perhaps you might have more luck?

Problem solved!! I did what you suggested and unticked the box that told the unit to turn off after each transfer - it obviously was turning off before the route was transferred properly.. Presumably then, if you are transfering more than 1 route then I guess you have to manually turn the unit on/off in between transfers..
Thanks for the help!!

You're welcome...

I've not found it to be a problem to transfer 8 or 10 routes in one go like this or a number of routes in separate consecutive transfers. Frankly, I'm puzzled as to the benefit afforded by the "Turn off after transferring" function. Maybe it's a legacy from units that have the map tiles transferred at the same time? I dunno :nenau

Once I encountered the problem with getting zero destination routes transferred to the GPSR (which happened while I was far away from home and actually needed the corrupted route :spitfire ), I experimented with all sorts of things before I found that it was this pesky checkbox causing the problem. In all the experiments I did I never found a need to power-cycle the GPSR between transfers. "Go figure" as the Merrycans say
