Thursday was a great day so I took Friday off. I spent most of Thursday night planning a ride that would take me to the West Coast of Scotland and back again in time to pick up the little one from day care... :jamie
Friday morning wasn't looking that sharp but I wasn't caring, it had been a long week at work and I was determined to enjoy my day off
In the opposite direction from where I was going, there is a bus that has been converted into a food joint...
The Pit Stop...
They cook a fine Scottish breakfast;
Two eggs overeasy, two sausages, tons of bacon (not streaky bacon, fellas, real bacon), lorne sausages, black pudding, onion, tomato, toast, and milky tea. Minus beans, I hate beans
Back on the road again, the sun was burning up the fog and clouds revealing this image..
This was going to be some day
Speyside is home to the Malt whisky trail and over half of Scotland's whisky distilleries. Supplying the distilleries with casks is Speyside Cooperage located in Craigellachie ..I had a long way to ride today so I rode by and took a couple of pictures before moving on...
Further on was John Dewars
Leaving Speyside behind, the Cairngorms beckoned
It wasn't long before I came across a Highland cow..Go Horns
She was quite friendly...
And had two cute offspring
It was time to move on as the beautiful Scottish countryside beckoned.
By now I was in awe
, I couldn't believe that I was lucky enough to live here and have opportunity to see it with my own eyes.
Right around the next bend..see what I mean...
Around a few more bends...just stunning
The West Coast is notrious for having mossies that can carry off GS's
but for some reason, they were using me to commit suicide.
Riding along the A87, there is plenty to see
Outside Eilean Donan Castle, these two bikes had German plates. The ride around the sea loch to the castle is spectacular with the loch on your left and mountains on three other sides...
Bike free view
I'm not even half way through the journey yet when I arrived at the Skye Bridge which takes you from the mainland to the Isle of Skye.
Isle of Skye ... I had a ferry to catch so I didn't take many pics here
The only other one looking back over to the mainland
Made the ferry...
Pretty, huh
The bike was carefully strapped down
Another bike with German plates - this one was two-up
Approaching Mallaig on the mainland
I would give my left arm to live somewhere like this...
"Would all passengers please return to your vehicles"
Start your engines...
Mallaig was a nice lil' town
On the road again, heading home
Glen Coe on the way to my next stop
..at The Green Welly which is a favourite rest and food stop for bikers and cage drivers alike.
Back on the single track roads, the scenary was still outstanding..
I'm sorry, it was getting late and I had to get home so this was the last pic I took during the trip. Filling up before getting it on...430 miles in 10 hours.
