ZUMO Firmware update 3.80 is out

Changes made from version 3.30 to 3.80:

* Add support for African Time zones.
* Add support for several new pre-recorded voices.
* Add support for distances in yards when a British voice is selected (may require updated voice).
* Added support for MAD Maps scenic routes.
* Allow the compass page to display 5 digits of elevation.
* Improved handling of circular routes. Allows entry at alternate point. Will not announce arrival when starting a route. (All routes will be deleted after update, but can be re-imported from GPX files.)
* Keep the map detail level when go from main map to browse map.
* When reviewing a gas station after pressing the fuel button from main map, the map will now be centered on selected gas station rather than the vehicle.
* Change Optimal Reorder so it does not include the final point when reordering.
* Correct issue where backlight may change if you remain on the backlight adjust page for a period of time.
* Correct issue where backlight may turn off when location is above polar circle.
* Correct issue that would sometimes cause highways to be labeled with the incorrect name.
* Correct issue that would not allow more than a single point to be added to some routes.
* Correct issues when the same map is loaded in two different regions.
* Correct issue when searching for cities on basemap.
* Correct off road transitions in track to route when there is no map coverage.
* Correct issue playing Audible format 4 books.
* Correct distance for mixed routes imported from MapSource
* Correct issue that caused all traffic delays to be 1min when using certain maps.
* Correct issue that prevented TrafficMaster service from being properly named on the unit.
* Correct issue that prevented some very large track log activities from being archived correctly.
* Correct issue where changes to a route would be lost if you press and hold the back button.
* Correct issue that caused MP3?s to be paused for navigation announcements when navigation was set to off and a pre-recorded voice was selected.

Zumo 550 Update

Hi all,
just noted that there is no mention of any volume increase in this update.
Does anyone know about downloading voice updates?.

Cheers
Alyn

No matter where you go - There you are!

That's two of my requests sorted (African time zones and distance in yards rather than decimal miles/feet).

Several more outstanding, especially the need to quickly swap between route up and track up display, and the ability to display upcoming junction diagrams per the 2610.

Tim

Check out your AVOIDENCE settings.

One of the few realy NEW thing can be found here:
Added: "AUTOBAHNS" as avoidences.

A quick test learend me this:
The present (and current) "Highways" avoidence still does not work. Not for the Highways we call them in the Netherlands anyway.
But if you select "Autobahns": It finaly does work!

Only not over too long routes. I.e. Home-Berlin (726 km) does not work and freezes the Zumo due lack of memory.
Home - Aachen (276km) does work.

Well this works for me! :thumb

Update on the Avoidences:

Further testing (hey where are yours!) learned me this:

You can select the "Highway" avoidence. In the Netherlands this will avoid the N- roads (how the hell to I translate that?.. Major, non-real-highway's??)
The "Interstate" avoidence will avoid the Major highway's ( M roads in Brittan I guess)

You can also select both of them, and then your route will be guided on the MINOR roads also.

Test it yourself, and report your findings here if you please, since the exact translations bothers me a little :thumb

This sticky title could do with updating - V4.0 firmware's out now...

Right you are.

In between 3.90 came out.

But Zumo 500 owners can better stay with 3.80 / 3.90 and not "update" to 4.0.
It's got nasty bugs.

Care to elaborate? what sort of "nastly bugs" and will I notice them?

I need to do an upgrade prior to a trip on the 1st May but don't see a way to upgrade to the "old" 3.90, only 4.0.

TIA
Dale

Dale - have a look at the problems peeps have been having after doing the new V-4.0 firmware update....?

Up to 4.2 now. It says that 4.1 fixed the Bluetooth connection problems.

Not sure I'd agree with this. I just updated today, from 2.50 to 4.20

Blue-tooth seems to disconnect after only a very few minutes.
With 2.50 I could walk away from the bike 'Perhaps a hundred Meters or more' and the BT rider would always reconnect on returning to the bike.

My Scala rider has not been more than two feet away from the Zumo all day (in doors on the desk, whilst fiddling with the MP3 setup) and disconnects after only about two minutes of non use. I then have to do a search in the blue-tooth menu.

Val.
