I've done fuel consumption tests before on my 1200GS and 1200GSA. On the latter I ran 14 miles on empty (i.e. after the fuel range went to zero) before giving up and refueling. This time I didn't have that option, I was in the middle of Mauritania and 70 miles from the nearest fuel station, so I just kept going.

The bike did 51.4 miles before spluttering to a halt!

I bet after 20 miles you were touching cloth.

After 30 miles you're heart rate was up 20%.

After 40 miles you were laughing.

After 50 miles you were confused!

:D

Something we all must do one day! :thumb2

Great blog:thumb2:thumb2.....it's great when you know the extremes of your machine like that. ......mph is critical as well as terrain, equipment, quality of fuel......

Mauritania what a toilet eh? I call it 'the central toilet of the world' -harsh I know...

I would do Africa twice a year on a bike if I had the money and time......more if someone paid me to do it.....:augie
