1200GSA - 51.4 miles on empty

I've done fuel consumption tests before on my 1200GS and 1200GSA. On the latter I ran 14 miles on empty (i.e. after the fuel range went to zero) before giving up and refueling. This time I didn't have that option, I was in the middle of Mauritania and 70 miles from the nearest fuel station, so I just kept going.

The bike did 51.4 miles before spluttering to a halt!

I bet after 20 miles you were touching cloth.

After 30 miles you're heart rate was up 20%.

After 40 miles you were laughing.

After 50 miles you were confused!



Something we all must do one day!

Great blog.....it's great when you know the extremes of your machine like that. ......mph is critical as well as terrain, equipment, quality of fuel......

Mauritania what a toilet eh? I call it 'the central toilet of the world' -harsh I know...

I would do Africa twice a year on a bike if I had the money and time......more if someone paid me to do it.....
