HUGGER for 800gs

:nenauFinally got the bike and very impressed. When going offf road the rear shock and chain get very mucky so does anyone know of a company selling a good rear wheel hugger

It'd be nice to have a stubby one that just shields the shock, not enclose the wheel or replace the standard chain guard. Better for mud plugging usage then. Anyone seen something that might fit the bill?

What about a front mud guard/flap extender? Does anyone have one?

Hi
Saw the one at Nippy Norman, decided to wait for a carbon one, which will soon follow i think.
Think is looks a little "glossy" dosent fit in to well with the rest of the bike, seems to be the same as for the S\ST model
fishburger

I had the same feeling - holding off for now but would like something for the winter when the salt attack starts again.

Carbon Hugger 800 GS

800GS rear hugger

Picked up the new bike yesterday, limited use so far due to taking son to A & E and non stop rain.:(

Hope to put some running in miles in over the weekend.:)

Question to fellow owners, anyone fitted a rear hugger but kept the original chain guard in place? The powerbonze one looks the business.

We load some photos and first impressions soon

Thanks

Tim

I want a rear hugger that isn't carbon fibre and doesn't mess with the original chain guard. Something more akin to the 1200GS would suit me fine.

Good luck on your first ride out. :aidan

PowerBronze Rear Hugger

Having ridden through the rain soaked roads of Yorkshire today with the Mrs on the back, I am now convinced of the need for a hugger as the bike was filthy all over the back end. Some spots are impossible to reach for cleaning unless you have very small hands.
Having literally just ordered a tall screen from powerbronze, I took a look at their hugger and I think it looks the business. A bit pricey for my liking at 85 quid but then as an adopted Yorkshireman, thats not hard :thumb2
Saying that, it has the look of an off road piece of kit rather than a box standard hugger & chain guard combo.

Will be placing an order once this months paychecks in :thumb2

PowerBronze Rear Hugger

Bradders

Get yer wallet oot!!!

Powerbronze are doing an offer on the hugger at the moment, in conjunction with MCN. The price works out at, I think, 33% less. It just doesnt show on their website, although it is mentioned.
I've got mine on order

I recently bought their screen too, but I was too early for the price reduction on that. Just as well it isn't too dear.
Don't expect immediate delivery on the screen. I had to wait 3 weeks for mine. Their website states:-Powerbronze are pleased to announce that the Flip Screen for the BMW F800GS 08 model is now available.
This is a load of crap. I ended up phoning to ask where my screen was and was told that I would get it when it was made. I said, but your website says it is now available. The person on the other end said "yes, it is, when it's made". I said, that it therefore wasn't available. The person said "yes, it is". I gave up after that and decided to wait for it to really become available. When it did come it fitted like a glove and is a vast improvement over the standard.

I fully expect that the huggers are "Now available" too and look forward to delivery this time next month.

BTW. I did get a call from Powerbronze the other day asking if I got my order and if I was pleased with it. When I said yes and yes, the person told me about the reduction on the huggers etc. I ordered on-line that night.

Hugger Protection

Just looking at the 1200 style hugger as shown on the last picture, I'm not convinced of its protection around the rear shock area. My reasoning; I saw a 650 on Wednesday evening with a similar guard and the back end was covered in crud despite having this fitted. Yes, it will make the bike look very much like the 1200's younger brother but to me the powerbronze one looks like it will do the job very effectively.

Powerbronze Hugger fitted

Got my powerbronze hugger fitted this afternoon but unwell so not able to ride with it on :thedummy
Its a bit of a pig to fit to be honest as the support bracket fits onto the existing brake cable mounts. The one right next to the shocker is a pig to get to, but half an hour had it all sorted.
No point posting pics as it looks exactly like on the powerbronze pics, ie the carbon fibre look. It doesnt affect the chain guard at all and looks a sturdy piece of kit that will protect the bike shocker and engine as I want.
Once I have ridden in the wet I'll give you all an update on how things are going.
