I thought I'd share my little solution to the iPhone lack of Auto Answer function, meaning that if the phone is in your pocket and out of reach, you can't auto answer a call on the bike with the Autocom bluetooth setup.

I keep my iPhone in my jacket pocket and as yet don't have a Zumo GPS which is the other solution.

I searched online and found something called a Griffin "SmartTalk Headphone adapter Control & Mic for iPhone". It cost me £13 and is basically an adapter that allows you to press a button on the remote to answer or hangup a call. It clips on to my jacket or waistband of my Kriega and with a little amalgamating tape is now waterproof! The mic doesn't seem to activate if the audio is sent to the Autocom bluetooth as you'd expect!

Linky here, I bought mine online. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/smarttalk

Cheap, effective and simple! :)

option

if you leave the lock function off it will auto-answer but obviously with the screen on all the time it can run the battery down. I use a normal in-car charger hard-wired to the bike and it works perfectly.

A simple thing "auto answer" and my other phones have it. The little button on the above also ends the call which is useful and sorts out the music if you have that on also, but I use an iPod for that with Belkin Remote on the bars.

I currently am using my Zumo as hub for handling calls, but ideally I would like to have a small gadget which could act as a bluetooth hub between my Autocom (bluetooth), and my phone which would have have a small display and couple of buttons, more or less like the Zumo's phone functionality - that would allow me to have a GPS which does not have bluetooth;)

I know that there is the Parrot Handsfree systems, but they are for cars, and I would like to have something which is smaller, and water resistant.

Just traded my 2G iPhone for a 3GS and it now has Voice Control...

Combined with the above Griffin kit, I can now press and hold the button on the headset lead attached to my jacket and then voice command through Autocom to dial home, play music, etc.

The trick is when playing music, select a track on the ipod then press the bluetooth icon on the right of the ipod screen and select "Auto 1" which is the Autocom....
The music can be sent via the Autocom Bluetooth module too!

Very cool!Although I will most likely be stationary at the side of the road if I need to make a call, this feature is pretty good....

I recently upgraded to an I-phone 3gs as well. Have managed to connect the Zumo and phone to the autocom bluetooth dongle which allows me to activate voice control from the Zumo screen. The problem is that one or both gadgets disconnects after a short space of time. Any ideas??

iPhone with BT goes iPodish on me

Anyone using the latest 3GS iPhone with the Autocom BT? My phone reverts to iPod mode and starts playing tunes when the caller hangs up.

Hi- I just purchased the Autocom BT and two things happen with my iPhone 3GS:

1- phone auto answers. Can this be disabled?
2- The phone reverts to the ipod mode and starts playing music after receiving a call. Have you figured out how to fix this?

best,
