Can anyone recommend a decent inn (i.e. rooms, food & pub) for a night just north of Glasgow? I'm looking to meet up a couple of pals travelling up from the south of England.

There seems to be plenty of 'very nice' places around Loch Lomond and to the East but they are all very pricey and I'd prefer not to spend more than £30 per person on B&B.

Thanks

Kai

hi there is an inkeepers lodge at l lomond its around 65 for a room and breakfast thats a twin room so you could split it with your pals..

have a look at http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/ - it's a good directory of B&Bs & inns

It throws up this one on the A85 just north of Callander, about 50 miles north of Glasgow. http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/a47620.html - rooms from £12 per person it says. Looking at their own website that's for a 10 bed bunkhouse. Normal B&B rooms available inc. a triple for £85 (inc full Scottish brekkie), £65 room only. Gets good reviews too http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=&q=&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_en-GB___GB355&ie=UTF-8 (link here for hotel site)

I`ve stayed here http://www.oak-tree-inn.co.uk/index.php
in the bunkhouse behind the pub just on the shore of Loch Lomond, quite compact but clean and heated and ensuite etc and ok for a couple of nights, not tried the rooms in the pub though. The pub itself is very popular and does great food and keeps a good pint of guinness. Ask Agnes for a beef pie dinner if you book!

Just down the road is Bobs B&B http://www.balmahahouse.co.uk/
He has a little holiday cottage that sleeps 3 next to his B&B and bunkhouse, nice spot, I`ve stayed there as well , so best of both worlds if there`s 3 in your party.

Cheers.

Just a thought on my post above, The holiday cottage sleeping arrangements are one fold out single and a double, so may not suit everyone.
