Hey,

I've just found out about "wrapping". I.e using a vinyl decal to cover the car or bike. The idea is that you print, using a huge printer, out something on the self adhesive decal and then you apply that to a car, using hot air to shrink it where needed.
I don't need a "pattern" or anything, I'm just interested in the colour change and the protective nature of the film.

I asked them if they do bikes and they said they do bikes, but it can become quite expensive as bikes have funny crevices and fairings. I then asked if I could buy the film separately and apply it on my own, and they said they don't sell the "wrap". :blast

Does anyone know what the wrapping is and where one could buy some of it. I'd love to make my bike a bit darker, and having a removable protective film would be ace for resale! :thumb2 :clap :thumb2

Cheers! :JB

There was a big article on this in the Evening Standard in London a week or so ago as it is the latest fad for f*ckwit footballers to spend their huge wages on rather than WAG and booze....

its just vinyl wrap - tell whoever sells it what u want it for and they will give you the right stuff.

call a proper dealer to get the name and prices, dont trust ebay to be 100% accurate.

Does this mean I have to take up footballing? :tears

I saw the panniers, and the video, but didn't see the bike. Very nice. :)

I just love the idea of a new colour cheaply and with a bit of effort in the garage cutting and heating. :)

Westway coaches in raynes park have a guy who covers ferraris, lambos etc etc, one of the best in the country.
He started by using it to protect the coaches and it worked out cheaper than respraying the coaches every year, and he could do special "event finishes on the coaches.

Give them a call and he'll sell you the right stuff.

Thanks! That'll be http://www.aisigns.co.uk/ associated with http://www.westway-coaches.co.uk/ - it's a good idea, but besides me being bad on the phone, I don't really feel comfortable with ringing someone up at their work and asking them to give away their professional secrets and materials. :)

All I really need is to know the make/brand of the vinyls, and a place to buy them from, plus some advice really. :) :)
