Bit late but I finally got round to doing a writeup on giving the Zumo 660 cables the chop!...

yip, me too.....especially as just in process of trying to hide (i.e. stuff out of sight!) all those bl**dy leads.....a really helpful issue is that they are all the wrong length:blast

i carried out this mod a couple of weeks ago
allows my to quickly change the cradle between 2 bikes
without removing bodywork:)

am i correct in the understanding that this is only good if your going to use the bluetooth ony function to listen to the comms?

seems silly if you got an autocom..

Looks good :) But where did you get the connector you use on your modified cable? Have been to Maplins web site but there are literaly 1000's of different connectors on there...

I did get a bunch from Maplin but I've just spent ages looking and can't find them now :-(

closest I could find...

You can get connectors that you assemble yourself, i.e. you fix, crimp or solder, wires to the plug pins yourself or the option I went for is plugs that come preassembled with short wire leads (tails) you can solder your wiring to easily (as above).

May be best to pop in your nearest electrical components store.....I have a feeling they're model aircraft battery leads or something like that.

Yes, I've used those connectors before. Bit big and not convinced about their weather protection

However Nail on Head Hit :) :thumb2 I used to fly radio-control aircraft many years ago and recognise the connectors as those fitted to the servos and batteries used for the model plane electrics. Had a look round some old model bits hidden in tins in the garage and found exactly the connectors on your original post :beerjug:

Is it a case of possibly fitting a proper axillary plug onto the end of the cradle wire to go into a power socket if you have said power socket fitted to your bike ? I think that would be a pretty neat way of installation and is what I'm considering doing as I also don't like the cradle being 'permanently' mounted. It would surely offer a better degree of water resistance and easy removal.
