Tossers –in-the-Tejeda is finally over – and what a week it’s been!
A few of us planned to meet at Malaga airport on Friday 20th Sept. Unfortunately, D K missed his flight from Barcelona and we had to leave him to make his own way to Competa.
The rest of us made our way to our rented villa and awaited the arrival of the bike truck. The bikes unloaded and a few other domestic chores completed, we could relax and took dinner at the El Mirador restaurant in the picturesque village of Frigliana.
On Saturday, a return visit to the airport to collect the remainder of the tossers - stopping off at a hypermarket for essential supplies. On arrival at the villa, everyone met each other over a glass and a light lunch.
The riding started early on Sunday morning and saw us taking a long trail to the Streambed of Death. A road ride back to the Fabrica took us to a picnic lunch. Like most other days, this was rounded off with a visit to Competa Square where our arrival seemed to make quite an impact!
Monday saw us on a run up the Stoneflume of Death and the Monastery of Death before retiring to the Lost Village for refreshments.
On Tuesday we used local intel to head towards a zoo in the mountains above Nerja.
On Wednesday, Graham Ross of Trailblazers led us on an awesome ride to Masmuller – over 80 miles of trails!! What a day!
Thursday took us to a circumnavigation of the lake at Periana. Nearly 90 miles of trails.
Friday saw us attempt a return visit to the zoo but halfpint suffered a broken chain and the day was aborted.
This was a week of hard riding but a great time was had by all. We were superbly catered for by the lovely Marie.
Roll on 2012!
