Thinking of running a big bike trail ride in november- there should be 2 dates shown in the poll- pick one that best suits.

This would be aimed at catering for the big bikes and/or novice riders.

It will be a good deal slower than my usual pace, and i won't be using some of the more testing trails on salisbury plain either.

Tyres: TKC's or more aggressive if you can get them are recommended, especially if you have little or no experience.

It's just going to be a gentle run around on some relatively straightforward byways. There won't be a route as such, it will just be a case of seeing how things go on the day.

no need to fill your tank right up, the most you will need in there is enough for 40 miles..

Any takers?

I take it off road Tyres are a must ? Cant use the standard ones that do road and mud i was told. If not any idea where to get some and how easily it is to change them over from stock. May do 20th if i have my GS before then.

Regards

Your welcome to give the standard tyres a go! A lot of the tracks on the plain are hard packed gravel.

If you have more off road biased tyres it will open up a few more possibilties are far as routes go.

I don't have a route planned. I thought i'd make it up on the day, depending on numbers, skill level etc.

I'll probably ride the g/s ... is that big enough to count as a big bike as the 1100/1150 have the wrong tyres on them.

Looks like the 20th is 'leading', unfortunately I can't do that date but can do the 13th. I might be able to bring 2 others if more numbers needed although we will all be on 990's.

i don't currently have any commitments on either date, and if anyone wants to ride either, then i'm game :D

I would prefer a group size of at least 4+. If we have to extract a big bike from a muddy hole:blast the more will hands the better.

I've put me down for the 20th which would be better
I would fall under the novice title but have done level 1 ORS and was deemed capable enough to join them in Portugal in Feb

But Let me know where and when meet is and I'll be there

Drogo i think i saw you at bahnstormers when you first got your adv. Like you said Danny is a really nice chap and tried everything possible to get me on a f800gs at 18 years old (Finance wasn't possible) so now i've got to buy one outright.

Can i ask are you going to swap your road Tyres over or leave them on? If i have a GS by then which i think i will i cant really afford to go and buy off road Tyres as well as pay someone to change them before the trip.

I pop up the plain near Andover in my truck tonight, yep she is wet and muddy. Tkc's are going to be needed unless it drys up.

If your buying a new bike, can you not spec knobblies to start with and get the dealer to have them fitted before you pick it up??

Aren't you forgetting your arm bands? An essential bit of life saving equipment :O :thumb
