BUT cannot get the driveshaft to release

I've never come across one like this before

Out with a struggle but how the heck will I get the bugger off now

Tyre lever

After a good spray of wd40 I would insert a tyre lever into the UJ and lever against the end of the input shaft. It should just slide off easily.

Getting the front coupling back onto the gearbox output shaft can be interesting! You're best to push the rubber boot away from the gearbox and insert. Finger or two to lift the coupling to align it, if you don't you could be there for hours.

Are you sure that that's water in the swinging arm? If the oil seal fails on the final drive that's where it pools.

Check out the UJs as well. The shaft looks mighty 'straight'. It's not seized up is it?

Roger.

Is that Bilko's bike still in bits?

Duckspeed, when you quote cut out the links for the images then we don't get all the photies posted multiple times.:thumb Unless of course they are fine examples of female anatomy when more is definitely better!

If the pic's are of Bilco's bike, very likely, they are a few weeks old.

Exactly the same problem as I had with my 07 GSA. NOG had to replace the lot under the extended warranty when they couldn't get it apart. :)
