... Starts today (well tomorrow), Bike packed everything ready only two things I can think of that I've forgot, one being a soap dish, get that in Asda later, other is I forgot to order a charger/inverter for my little Dell Note Book to charge from the bike. :mad: Decided to take a rear tyre and change it in Southern Spain, the bike it quite rear heavy so don't think the tyre that's on won't last till I get back.

I'll try and put up dates where I am each day, with some pics, then I'll write a RR when I get back. Get train to Calais 6:00am tomorrow, ride down to Route 66 Hotel (107 Avenue de la Libération, 87320 Bussière-Poitevine, France), I've read some mixed reports so I'll let you know.

You, mate, are a packing failure! And I thought I was bad when I had a 1200GSA... ;)

Seriously though, less is more. It's not too late to unpack and discard half what you have packed. And it looks like you have the roll bags mounted on the panniers, I would consider moving those to rest across the seat to reduce the stress on the pannier rails. It would also be more aerodynamic. haha.

If it all gets too heavy you could always leave half the stuff in a hotel in southern Spain or northern Morocco. I used to leave all my cold weather gear in Hotel Panorama in Azrou and pick it up again on the way north.

It's certainly possible to get tyres in Spain but they tend to be at full price. If anyone knows of a decent supplier in Spain I would be grateful for the details.

I had the last set of tyres shipped out from the UK together with mousses and a mousse changer which you can see in my last trip report at http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net/forum/showthread.php?t=333

I've only just started writing it today, with a view to giving ButtonMoon a couple of other places to visit... Should have finished the relevant section before he gets there. haha.

Morning. I'm at the channel tunnel. Didn't see this until now. I'm planning to camp most nights & leave stuff at hotels in doing full days on piste. But ur right there's a lot of stuff. Changing roll positions now. Cheers.

I plan to change tyre in southern Spain before ferry crossing, worst case I'll change it myself.

Did you manage to pick up a soap dish? Be terrible to get all that way and have nowhere to put the soap.

If you are going to wait until southern Spain you might as well change the tyre in northern Morocco. Just look for a tyre place with massive tractor/truck tyres outside, you should be looking at no more than 30 dh (£2) to change the tyre.

That's the problem ! 250lb soap disk with a lid !!! Mind u I've packed 60 pairs on undies cos I'm there for a month & I'm bound to shit myself once a day

I'm at Harry's (Route 66) he's letting me leave my winter stuff here, I'll pick it up on way back or get TNT to pick it up.
Tried drybags across to they are too high.
Most of my weight is tools, spares, food, tent, bed roll and me !

That's a really good idea but perhaps I've been unlucky as every time I've been cold in Morocco it's been south of Azrou.
 
Enjoying the latest report Tim.....im arriving in Morocco as a first timer there having travelled all over Europe. Not too sure whether to take BMW rallye jacket or just Klim air flo with some thing under it. Om aiming to get down to Zagora, not off roading. Im on tourance next tyres which im hoping are ok....is the puncture likelihood greater in Morocco using roads ?
Keep up the good work as it is a tremendous help...
 
Keep posting threads Button as im following you down..arrive Morocco 15/4.......think the ferry will sink when you board with that lot...:help

I forgot how beautiful Northern Spain is !!!

I've got about an hours ride then look for a hotel. Back soon.

For the Jan/Feb trip I took a BMW Rallye suit with liners. If it rains, however, the waterproof lining is on the inside, so the outer suit gets wet. I get around that by having extremely large waterproof overtrousers and overjacket which I can wear over the top, and I also used that when it was extremely cold. I also had an electrically heated jacket.

If I was setting off right now I'd be inclined to take my Rev'it Air Flow jacket with additional under/over layers.

Tourances will be just fine on tarmac (or off tarmac, so long as it's not too muddy).
