Bash plate mounting rubber thingies

I keep destroying the bash plate mountings on my 1200 :(

I'm looking for a cheap alternative to the BMW part, which are nearly a tenner each! People have said that some sort of mounting part from a Mini will fit, but I went to a car spares shop today to investigate - they said the most likely part was a mounting from a Mini exhaust system and that the threads on those parts are not metric.

So, any other ideas?

In case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, the item is a rubber "buffer" about 15mm deep, with a 15mm long M6 thread on one end and a 10mm long M6 thread on the other.
 
I`ve got a few at home that may be suitable.

I`ll check the threads out when I get home.

They`re obtained via my work,so I`m sure they`re locally supplied. :thumb
 
Rubber mountings

Had similar problem some years ago, for petrol tank mounting got what I neded from the local exhaust shop, 6 mm thread each side they're used on some car exhausts mountings, very cheap compared to dealer prices, seperated ones can be stuck back together using god old super glue, not a perfect cure but would do as a short term measure.

I got some rubbers for a gps mount i made... They were for a renault 5 and are 6 mm thread each end..Your local exhaust fitter / motorfactor should be able to supply them

I've already been repairing my broken ones with superglue! Have found a manufacturer of these things on the web - just need to see if they'll sell to me in small quantities.
 
I think the Renault items look the closest, try your local kwik fit fitter. or Renault dealer, they are exhaust mountings on the 5 series of cars.

I snapped one last oil change.

Rather than wait for a new one to arrive I cut a suitable length of M6 SS studding that I had (handy stuff to have around - cheap from screwfix), drilled the old rubber bush and put it back together with a penny washer each side of the bush (stud running through the lot). It's turned it into a 'non-rubber' mounting but as I don't off road I'm not that bothered.

I've since bought some spares from Motorworks and I'll swap-out my bodge next oil change.
 
Have a look at the rubber mounting bushes for a Landrover Defender Air Filter housing. They may be about right.
