Planning a off road weekend 25/26 th september; camping out or b/b near pub for good social crak:beerjug: any body interested lets make the most of last bit of summer,

Basil,

Is this a pogo stick weekend or a GS weekend???

If pogo stick I could be interested

Andrew

Sounds interesting

If dates available in diary we may be interested even on a day visit basis. Prefer no ponces on easy peasy bikes mind (soz Jenks if that's what you're inferring). What's this club if no GS riding ? They're eminantly suitable for the right routes.

Pogo stick or what

Now what is a pogo stick  /no its a cracking bit of scenery ,a pint glass, cracking roads on and off road , a warpep sense of humour:beerjug: .I,am try to put oa good weekend up ,if you r up for it lets be knowing,p/s jim m,c sharry will be handling all off road after kelso:beerjug: b-----ks i,am off on holiday ta run new bike in:beerjug: :shoot: :D

Basil,

I speak with fork tounge. been in the South to long, put born Yorkshire.

Is the route you are planning suitable for the GS or better for a Suzi DRZ.???

Andrew

Couple of options

Basil -- Excellent idea , might I suggest that we arrange a booking @ The Lion , Blakey Ridge (scene of Saturday's debauched Old Peculiar bean feast) and take it from there ?

The Lion does B&B in addition to having the cheapest camping in Yorkshire - that should entice even a few of the Lancastrian bretheren over to the "DO" . When we have an idea as to numbers and capabilities / aspirations we can divvy up the two days accordingly .

Failing that , if people want something approaching a soft , manicured pitch next to the river Wharfe , complete with pub on doorstep , all situated in the bottom of a sheltered valley site , resplendent with toilets and showers - Appletreewick would fit the bill nicely .

If Appletreewick gets the nod , I'll pop over to the farm and enquire as to costings , ditto the pub and post details .

Over to you all for views , opinions and general sledging .

All the best , James

Hi chaps ,looking like base camp dent or appletreewick,if your interested let me know.Camping and b/b avalible .Route steady on sat ,dinner at hartside cafe .sun run over cam fell ,semerwater, pockstones, plus afew more.route round if ya cant hak the rough stuff:D

This is already happening that weekend Basil:

The Keiths Fund Run - Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th September

Weekend before is Princetown.

See you tonight anyways.

Jim

Due to unfortunate circumstances the date as been altered to 2nd and 3rd off october ,appletreewick is the starting place.Hope to see ya there ,further details will be released when i get back from dorset steam fair .

Mason's Campsite & dates

Dear All -- Visited Mason's this evening , billiard table lawns upon which to pitch your tent , river Wharfe at bottom of campsite , free showers , electric hook up for those with campers or 'vans , toilets , showers . Two pubs in hamlet - Craven Arms , serving food and Blacksheep Ales plus guest beers , The New Inn , serving food and both Daleside and Theakstons plus guest beers ! Spoilt for choice - also campsite is downhill from both pubs , approx 150 & 200 metres away , so staggering is no problem .
As regards booking all we have to do is ring them a few days in advance with numbers to confirm and job's a good 'un .
Prices : - £4.50 per person per night
Tel. no. -- 01756 720275

Given that nothing is set in stone and nobody has as yet had to finalise arrangements / leave etc. (?) , and that Fritz & Bev say that they can't make the weekend of 2nd & 3rd - any chance of moving it even closer to Winter and opting for the 9th & 10th October ?
I for one would enjoy the whole do more for the presence of them there Thirskies - anyway the begger owes me money !

If not possible I'll still be happy to be there on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd and the early part of Sunday 3rd , (taking two of the children to college later that day)

If anyone fancies B&B or Hotels / Guesthouses , let me know and I'll get details - one of the local hotels has just been awarded a Michelin star !
As I live literally 10 mins. down the valley it would be a pleasure to help .

All the best ,
James

Soz marra, can't do ought 'til Nov. However.........it'll be nearer winter then ;) .......ever got the impression we've taken your money and :moped:

Howie

Hi Howie
The Boots are great,Wish i had taken them to Norway, took my off road boots, which on the day that we had heavy rain for a few hours, let the water in,then my feet were cold and wet for 10 hours no fun at all:(
Just returned from Scotland ,we had a good bit of rain and my feet were bone dry in the boots I bought from you :)
Hope to see you on one of the ride out soon.
Thanks Dazzer

B&B , Accomodation , Hotels etc.

As promised , details having arrived this am from Tourist Info. @ Skipton .
Usual caveat applies , "I know nothing about any of these places , as when I'm in the dog house I can use it , or the garage , or even a mate's house for temporary shelter - local B&Bs are a forgien country to me !"

B&Bs / GUESTHOUSES : -

KNOWLES LODGE -- 01756 720228
Appletreewick £30 - £35 pppn

BURNSALL MANOR HOUSE -- 01756 720231
Burnsall £24.50 - £28.50 pppn

HOWGILL LODGE -- 01756 720655
Barden £30 - £36 pppn

HOTELS : -

The DEVONSHIRE FELL HOTEL -- 01756 718111
Burnsall £55 - £90 pppn

The RED LION HOTEL -- 01756 720204
Burnsall £57.50 - £70 pppn

The DEVONSHIRE ARMS Country House Hotel -- 01756 718111
Bolton Bridge / Abbey £105 - £175 pppn !
(go on I dare you !)

If people want a cheaper campsite than Masons (comes complete with in situ cowpats) that has served my rugby teams for many years of "bonding boozing & buffoonery" !
Then try , HOWARTH FARM -- 01756 720226

Or , If I owe you a favour and you are prepared to kip in one of my family's spare tents - let me know and I'll even help you put it up .

All the best ,

James

Hi chaps can ya let mi know who is coming for certain ,sat start point at barden towers 9to9.30 ish. Also if ya camping or wat:beerjug:

Numbers

Right you lot - I'll be @ Mason's campsite setting up my tent etc. sometime between 17:30 & 18:30 on Friday evening , depending on work getting in the way .

Later , I'll be in either the Craven or New Inn .

Basil , where & when do you want to meet up on Friday ?

It would be polite to be able to tell the Masons how many bods & tents to expect , although at this time of year space on the site will not be an issue .

So , as Basil said - how many of you are intending to turn up & how many are going to camp ?

Answers on a post or pm to me & Basil .

All the best ,
James
