Any sign of a 1200GS Adventurer model?

P.S New Touratech cataloge & site(.de) has loads of extras for people to put a few kilos on the 1200GS.....& take some off with Silencers..........:cool:

In a word no....I don't think there will be anything at the NEC show and no hint of one at the German show. Maybe the back end of next year when the rush to by the standard 1200 has died down. The 1150 Adventure is still a very nice bike indeed although I wish they still made an 850.;)

hello,

funny u should ask, because i asked my dealer the same question today about the chances of a black colour gs or an adventure version and he says no to both. he did stress that prices for next year's gs' will rise 800 quid!
 
There is a black 1200GS in a dealership in california. Not sure if it has been painted or if it came from berlin that way. It is behind a barrier and not for sale as yet. Odd!

Speaking to someone yesterday, the current rumour is;

Apparently BWM are bringing out a more off-road orientated 1200 next year - however it will not be a replacement for the Adventure.

Then the plan is to bring out an Adventure replacement the year after.

Sounds like T/T etc already have sight of the 1200 off road jobbie, so they can start making bits for it.

For the time being no 1 to 1 1150 GSA substitute in 1200 version. Quite sure is the introduction of a very off road focused 1200 GS R(allye). 21" front, huge suspension travel, small narrow tank, lighter very (very) expensive and perhaps even limited.

Have a look at Advrider.com Jimmy Lewis testing some weird project. That bike wasn't made by amatures.


P.S.: also have a black/black/black 1200 GS since May :D
 
Yesteday at the NEC show, I asked several of the BMW staff re a possible 1200GS Adventure. Answers were in line with what GSWOLF has written ie Rally version, lighter, more power and more expensive. Timing 2006.

Also Charley Boorman turned up to sign books. They had a fully stocked new 1150GSA on the stand. It felt absolutely huge.

Staff also unanimously praised the 1200 over the 1150GSA.
 
Little (bmw) birdy told me, the GS12ADV will be an 06 model. Hoping its spring 06 or maybe before that. :D

My dealer said I was the first to go on the list, for when it comes. :beerjug: Better start saving now. :D
 
I've been told that the current 1150ADV will definately be around for at least the next 18 months to two years. This was from two seperate UK dealers and a third dealer in Germany.

I was also told that there was a strong rumour that an adventure version of the 650GS would be available at the end of 05, begining of 06, with larger fuel capacity and an increase in engine size. Has anyone anymore info on this?
 
Right lads, I will let you into a wee secret, but dont tell anyone.
My friend who works in BWMs research and development dept has recently informed me that the new 1230 adv will be introduced in spring 07.
I have seen the prototype pictures and I can inform you of the current specs.

Conventional forks with on board electronic adjustment
2 range gearbox offering low ratios for off road use. This will be optional.
Electric reverse gear.
Hydraulic centre stand.
Larger tank with smaller versions of the present clip on side bits incorporated into the tank itself, giving extra capacity.
Built in sat nav. optional.
Unuasually, a 20" front wheel . Wires only.
Finish is only in black or yellow, with all black engine transmission and final drive.
The tubular subframe is completely different with aluminium square section tubing being used.

Ive got a picture of it taken from the drive side, but I am not allowed to show anyone, or he will get the sack.

It will be well over 10 grand.
