I've had a Bluetooth handsfree car kit for some time and, on the whole, it works pretty well.
So I've been nagging Autocom to produce such a kit for the bike and, towards the end of last year, they started offering a Nokia kit with adaptors for whichever Autocom kit you are using.
I installed said kit on my bike a couple of weeks ago and, since then, have struggled to get it to work. I could get my phone, a Sony-Ericsson P800, to 'bond' with the bike-mounted kit, but that's all it would do.
I tried everything - resetting this and that, removing the link to my car's handsfree and a couple of wiring variations. I even tried another Nokia handsfree unit (thanks Matt!) but to no avail.
Finally, today, I dug my company phone - a Nokia - out of the drawer and tried that. It works perfectly! A phone call to Nokia confirms that their unit will only work with Nokia phones and, perhaps, some others!
It seems that whilst Bluetooth may be an international standard, the phone operating protocols are not.
