A quick question, I'm not from a Harley background but I have to install a head on a 2015 1200 Sportster xlc. All standard original parts from Harley. It seems there are two ways of doing these, The factory way and torque settings way. Can someone enlighten me please.

This is the system, weird as it may seem, from the marque forum.............. http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14055.

Probably best to stick with the established HD method.

However I appreciate your dilemma, but without the ultimate torque being quoted from the Motor Co, is it reasonable to rely on the figures in post #13 of the link above?

linky no worky ( for me )

Link works for me. So no quarter of a turn on the last bit like some youtube videos show?

I was suggesting that I would use what in the link is described as the 'Factory Method' in the absence of torque data recommendations from HD. That is to say, go with the lower torque setting plan, plus 90 degrees.

Your bike, your decision obvs.
