Charging phone on the move

Fitting my android phone in its mount should this cable charge it as I go .I have it plugged into the mount and also plugged into the phone and using the connected app and yet its not putting any charge into the phone.so should I be running a cable from the USB plug on the right of the dash to my phone .thanks

Some phones simply do not charge on the mount. My iPhone 11 did, but my 13 did not.

Power the phone some other way; for example, using the USB socket you mentioned.
