When you get 7 miles away from home on your first ride in nearly 2 years and the bike dumps all its coolant over your left boot. I knew that wearing my leather breeks was a good idea…
How do you know it wasn't 180 to the rightThere's something not right with attaching pics. I posted all those from my desktop iMac in the correct orientation and the site has rotated two pics 180 deg to the left, in the first post.

What caused the hose to come off Mike?
If the X Country is similar to the TR650 it looks like you’re ready for a new clutch cable.
PS Boot being a Sidi Adventure?
Ok so....thank you for reorienting them, Paul You got one of them right... The original boot pic was 180 deg to the left of what it is now but no matter. It's better the way you've set it.
The cause of the problem is in the 4th pic which isn't the order in which I attached them but again, no matter. The black spring clip which you can see should be holding the hose onto the spigot.
That’s just the outer sheath we’re it’s been melted during production to keep it in place ;-)

I’d replace all of those clip type bands with good old fashioned jubilee clips , I’ve done it on all of my G650X bikes using stainless jubilee clips
Correct. The Mk1 version. The perils of being an early adopter. Likewise my Sidi Flexforce SRS. I wish I'd waited for the Crossfire.
Agreed, John. I've got a box full of them in the garage. I can't find anything on line about coolant spec. Is it just plain old ethylene glycol? The stuff that leaked out was green / blue colour.
This is what you need Mike :
Radiator/antifreeze/anti-corrosion agent

Thanks very much, John. I was hoping to get it back up and running today. I might have to use some generic stuff, at least in the meantime.
Oh and can you tell me about your hydraulic clutch conversion, please? Having broken the middle finger on my left hand just over a year ago, I've not recovered the full use of it.
Hydraulic clutch is a Magura Hymec one . It’s based on a F800 kit that you have to swap the slave cylinder out to one off a USA Bombadier quad bike to get the correct stroke length . I’ve done the conversion to both of my G650X’s and also to someone else’s XChallenge
Parts wise it costs around £400 so not cheap but gives a very light clutch

I like that idea. Just last week, I was discussing with a friend the possibility of doing a hydraulic conversion. Would you fancy doing another one, later in the year?
