my standard shock has completly had it , what are my options without spending £300 on one ,can i fit one from a paralever K ?
as there are plenty of secondhand ones in breakers for not too much money i don't want anything with a million settings just some rebound would be nice at the moment.andy

Andy,

If you have the original, then for £100 you can get it rebuilt at Caledonian Engineering in Glasgow:

Hans Kruger @
Caledonian Engineering
15 Glen Artney Road
GLASGOW
G69 9NS

T: 0141 779 2335

I have sold my old R80GS which I had put a Hagon shock on. I was pleased with this and it was designed as rebuildable, but I kept the old one so that I had a spare to keep the bike on the road. I contacted Hans to see if he could rebuild the original shock and he explained that he specialises in OE shocks which were not intended to be rebuilt. He cuts the top off and makes a threaded replacement, then replaces the shims, seals and oil, then rebuilds them. All for £100 inc VAT (postage was £6 extra) a couple of years ago. This would be much cheaper than a new Hagon or the like.

HTH,
Paul.

hi paul ,
thanks for the info on the shock , i still have the OE shock
but i really don't think it's worth spending £100+ on, from past experience the OE shocks are pants i had 2 go to jelly on an R100 GS i had about 12 years ago and they were new, so i will most probably go for a hagon they are about £200 or take some measurements from mine and see what i can make fit from a broken jap off roader. cheers andy

Hi, see above post on Hagon shocks for my comment on them (Good), if you want you can have my Sebac for £50.00 it's a bit bouncy 2 up with big luggage but fine one up or two up with light luggage, I'm preparing for a trans Africa trip and decided to change it after bouncing around green lanes with my missus on the back.
