New promo from RE......
Get in quick AndyThat’s remarkably convenient when you consider I’m giving serious consideration to buying one soon.

It’s a lot of bike for not a lot of cash and I was already very tempted.Jeez, that's a deal. A lot of bike for sweet £FA.........![]()

......I kept quiet until we'd we agreed that my 500 plus £2k was a fair price.
To be honest I didn’t care what he valued mine at but I wasn’t going to shift on how much cash would be involved and the salesman had to make the figures appear that there was a healthy margin in it for the shop. We’re all big boys now so we know how it works and when he offered me a flat £3k for my bike I said I’d sell it privately then shop around for the best price on a replacement. He’s obviously confident he’ll get a good price for mine because it’s a limited edition numbered bike and it scrubbed up nicely when I gave it a going over yesterday.RESULT !!!!!!........![]()
Interceptor is such a fun bike Andy, very easy to get on with and in my opinion a better choice than it's stablemate the GT mainly down to riding position and comfort.and so begins another chapter in my history of motorbike ownership.
I had a test ride on an Interceptor and was surprised at how comfortable it was, the footrests are a bit further back than I expected which is no bad thing and if I were desperate to fault it I'd say that it felt a bit nervous crossing white lines or patches where country roads had been repaired but that's easily solved with either new tyres or a play. with the suspension. I still prefer the looks of the GT but in the end I decided that if my RT fails to function as it should when I'm going on holiday the next day the Interceptor is the better option.
We did a bit of negotiating which started off with a ridiculously low offer for my 500 and me telling the guy I didn't care what numbers he put on it because cost to change was the key figure so we did a bit more negotiating, discussed a 2019 bike they had for sale then we hit the obvious solution; I buy the demo bike. I'd checked the mileage when I got on it and it was only on 25 miles because the weather has been so shit since they registered it at in June but the salesman thought it had done 400 miles and I kept quiet until we'd we agreed that my 500 plus £2k was a fair price.
It's the Sunset Strip colour scheme so like the original Baker Express but black with red at the lower area of the tank rather than white over red but I prefer that so I don't mind. I'll probably collect it tomorrow then book it in for the first service next week because it's due at 300 miles and I can do that easily enough in a couple of days.

But is it SHINY?????Interceptor is such a fun bike Andy, very easy to get on with and in my opinion a better choice than it's stablemate the GT mainly down to riding position and comfort.

No, I’d have liked to get a chrome one but they gave me a good deal on the ex demo so I gave up on that idea.Interceptor is such a fun bike Andy, very easy to get on with and in my opinion a better choice than it's stablemate the GT mainly down to riding position and comfort.

I fitted a DNA filter to my 500 along with a better quality spark plug so if the 650 gets the same benefits it’ll be getting the same treatment.Interceptor is such a fun bike Andy, very easy to get on with and in my opinion a better choice than it's stablemate the GT mainly down to riding position and comfort.

I found the front suspension absolutely fine for me, no weight really going to it, fitted YSS rear after a year, perfect once set up properly (vernier caliper measurements both sides, but just remember, do one side before removing the other oneI fitted a DNA filter to my 500 along with a better quality spark plug so if the 650 gets the same benefits it’ll be getting the same treatment.
I went for a 50 mile ride this afternoon and the seat seems ok so that can stay for a while.
I jacked up the preload on the rear shocks to the second firmest setting and it seemed to improve things by getting rid of that initial softness plus put an extra 3psi in both tyres to try and get more positive feel from them. The suspension is just cheap shit so if I get an extended run abroad or go to an area where it’s deemed a high security risk and we get a decent uplift I’ll get Teut over at TW suspension to wave his magic wand and fit a set of emulators plus stiffer springs which should sort things out. He’s only 30 minutes from me so I’ll drop the fork legs out and take them over. Add in a set of decent rear shocks and for under a grand you get a bike that actually handles and can upset other bike riders![]()
) Harris frame as well so handles better than some bikes 2 or 3 times the price. My view is that Harris will have designed a frame that works but Enfield have understandably cut a few corners when it comes to suspension components to keep the overall price down. I’m fine with that and a bit of money spent will give a good return so I don’t feel short changed by any means.I found the front suspension absolutely fine for me, no weight really going to it, fitted YSS rear after a year, perfect once set up properly (vernier caliper measurements both sides, but just remember, do one side before removing the other one![]()
