Just a few hours until I head off for the Spanish Pyrenees to have a crack at hiking the GR11.
520 miles from Cape Higuer in the west to Cap de Creus on the Mediterranean coast.
Camping along the way etc etc.

But first….bus wanker. I’ve got a National Express ticket from down here in Kent to London, and then another ticket with BlaBlaBus from London to just shy of the Spanish border at Hendaye…via Paris.
3 coaches, a ferry and about 30 hours all in if it’s all goes according to pain…sorry, plan.

The most ambitious walk I’ve taken on.

Good luck with it all.
BlaBlaBus sounds good.

You'll need a good walk after the luxury coaches. Enjoy.

Sounds like an excellent trip, exactly the sort of thing I bang on endlessly about doing but never actually do.
Have a great trip and stay safe.
Will there be photos?

Thanks for the words of encouragement and realism re the bus journey….it is cheap though!

Photos? I’ll probably take some and may get around to posting some on here….depending on how far I get and how broken I am.

Top man, enjoy, stay safe.
Have you an estimate of time taken etc ?

My brother in law did this in instalments, it was something he wanted to do when he hit 60, he thoroughly enjoyed it. (y)

Sounds good. I used to use the British Mountaineering Council bus from London to Chamonix every summer because it was about half the cost of driving there and once at Chamonix I was going nowhere I needed to drive to.

I know a few people who’ve done this (or GR10) in easy stages over several years - didn’t camp though.

The Cicerone guide book suggests 47 stages. I did a 400 mile Camino from Almería to Mérida earlier this year in 26 days. There were hills but no mountains so…..

I’d be very happy if I make it to the end to be honest. 50 days, 55 days…
Just to get to the end will be more than good enough.

Are you carrying everything or leaving a bag at the start with what you travel in?
And camping or mix of camping and hotels? Hopefully your stove fits foreign gas cans

I’m carrying everything….i hope to camp as much as I can but I’m under no illusion that I will want/need to sleep indoors sometimes. Partly weather dependent but also to keep the spirits up.
I bought a (as yet untried) adapter so my burner will be able to use both types of gas.
But then bread, cheese and sausage shouldn’t need warming up any 😂

Excellent. :clap
Keep us up to date as to how you’re getting on. :thumb2

This sounds like a fascinating trip, love the low cost element too.
