‘M off - Eifel, Luxembourg and Belgium

Not far along the road, it was a stop at the cafe I used on the way down, along with picking up lunch at the bakery next door:

And then, a pause at the Canadian WW1 memorial at Dury. Like the cemetery above, it’s a nicely presented and tended site, which has simple brass inserts with directional arrows to the towns linked with the Canadian army’s struggles:

Then onwards, through the little villages and towns, where Olympic fever is starting to appear:

And, at last to my hotel.

And these unusual ones, which I couldn’t work out:

some are obvious names like Walter Berger, unbekannt means unknown

I am wondering if they are mass graves where whole bodies were not found - men known to be missing, ID dog tags found and unidentifiable body parts.

it is mildly annoying that boulangeries actually close at lunchtime!

I think you are right, Wessie. I had much the same thought, as I was posting.

It makes sense from the information boards.

Wapping.

Thank you for your pictures of racing Ariels. My 2nd favourite bike, after BMW of course.

Pits pictures 4, 5, 10.

The same law that requires all French towns to have at least one (preferably more) florist, optician, coiffure and a car wash (all closed / at lunch).
They are also required by law to so many places for tramps to stay as i found out to my surprise one late afternoon;; :barf :ROFLMAO:

One day...just one day I’m going to get Sally to hold a brolly over me in a paddock fantasy. :D

Day 13….

A hopefully simple run back to the Chunnel and home:

PS I have my motorway blipper thing.

The end….

All done. 1,702 miles, door-to-door, of which only about 180 was motorways, the bulk of which was the M25 / M20.

The M20 is going from bad to worse; a disgrace for one of the UK’s supposedly premier routes.

We’ve just stocked up on bread, cheese, onions, bacon and some random processed floor scrapings described as jambon. The joys of having an apartment in Namur :D
