► Alternative screen options

Hello All
Just picked up my 800GS last saturday.
On the screen debate;has anyone tried the `aeroflow' option?
They tend to be a bit big and barn-doory but I used one on my 1100 and 1150 in winter or longtrips and compared to the other screens I tried were in a league of their own for protection and lack of buffeting
Just a thought!

Is the aluminium brace on the bmw touring screen strong enough to mount a gps to?

Hello Dean

I'm almost ready to buy the Touratech Desierto fairing :thumb2 but just wonder if you've had a chance to give yours a good test in the sunny weather we've had lately!

whats it like a national speed limits?

I'm 6' tall and have the Metal Mule screen, it just dosen't work for me! Just worried about spending £600 for the Desierto and not be any better!!

Hi Matt,

yes I rate it as the best for me:thumb2

im 6' and .5 an inch 32 inside leg. before had the large Givi screen but this is better at the higher speeds much less turbulance think its down to the seperation the dark plastic fairing and the tinted bit (spoiler- hole).............................. (for pictures scroll up)

Im not sure on the tilt back and forward and its effects yet:blast

If you want to meet up for a closer look at its workings let me know , I see your in essex :thumb2

whats wrong with the metal Mule screen ?

Thanks for getting back to me!

The Metal Mule seems to dump all the air onto my head, the turbulance is just to much!

Do you have the standed seat height?

We are about the same build so i might just order one!

How long did the delivery take from Touratech?

Matt

I think you will be impressed by the drop in turbulance, my seat is the TT high touring seat and delivery for the screen was 2 - 3 weeks as generaly they ship it over from Germany, some times they get a couple over and have one on the shelf, best thing to do is call them at wales............

its a great bit of kit and by far the best looking complimenting the bikes look even further, and the advantage when i'm in the heat (roll on summer and the south of france) at slower speeds I can drop the screen in seconds with no tools and enjoy the air.

Any chance of some shots from further away to get a better perspective of how it looks on the 650?

Thanks!

Matt just a thought :rob

I have in my possesion my hardly used Tall Givi screen which works very well, I think its improvement would be to black the cock pit area lower part.

any how i'm proposing if you want to meet up you can take the screen away with you try it if you like it make me a decent offer if you dont give it back, also if your interested in seeing the seat you can clip mine on yours (no you cant have it just try it)

this way you will know if you are comitted to buyind the more expensive TT

But on one condition become a subscribed member first :rob

What do you think ?

I figure that if each of us when we can, as im sure some do held out other members. This forum will not only be the biggest GS riding community but also the nicest:D

what , what its mothers day dont you know, im emotional :angel

Morning Dean happy mothers day :D

Thanks for the offer but after a beer or 2 last night :beerjug: i hit the check out button on the TT website!

I love the bike but at the moment i'm ready to sell it because of the seat and screen! That will cost me alot more in depreciation!

If i have a couple of days off in the week i will more often then not ride from Essex to South Wales spend the afternoon on mountains roads, find a campsite then ride home the following day! I got the GS so i can start doing some green laning and do trips down to morocco and some piste riding! At the moment i just cant do the high milage as comfortably as i'd like!

When your sitting on the bike how far below the horizon is the screen when its in its highest and forward position? I read somewhere that if its about 2 or 3 Inches then thats about right for motorway riding!

I think i will become a subscribed member anyway as i'm finding this site to be a great resource :thumb2

I understand what you meen about the travelling i'm off to south of france in August via the base of the Alps, via grenoble, my sister has a place 45mins from st tropez, so we will have a 6 day trip and push into Italy, next year or later in the year I fancy otherside of france into spain and portugal, and following that. BMW's touring screen and a MRA adjustable spoiler.

Hi LuckyDog
Where can you buy the MRA addjustable spoiler on its own? Been on their site and it seems they all come as part of a whole screen??
I've got the BMW touring screen also and your set up looks like a good fix.
