BMW screen

I purchased the "touring" screen and bracket...as far as I am concerned...big waste of $$$. It slopes back so much that it really doesn't increase wind protection much. Happy to sell mine. Will purchase the TT one. Looking at it, it doesn't slope back as much and could probably support a windscreen spoiler for the 1200GS for more protection in bad weather. I will be giving it a try within a few days.

TT screen

As mentioned above, I purchased the TT screen and fitted it today. Gave it a test ride and wind protection is much better. I am 5'7 and it seems just right. I stopped and put on a TT wind spoiler from my 1200GS and that made things even better. I can see over the screen but no wind on my helmet...great for winter riding. One plus, I previously had the BMW adventure screen. I left the adventure bracket in place as I have my Starcomm attached to it. As it turns out, purchasing a couple of rubber bumpers from the local hardware store and fixing them to the higher mount points adds additional stability to the whole windscreen.

on TT screen

swredbeemer,
have you noticed if the handguards (if you have them on your bike) touch on the screen when you turn completely the handlebar right or left?
I do have the BMW handguards + the 20mm TT handlebar risers and I am wondering if they will work in combo with the TT screen

many thanks

Gi-TT screen

I have the basic same setup as you with TT handguards. They would touch but are stopped by my TT tankbag. Even at that, it is just barely.

I have the TT screen with the BMW hand guards and have noticed so problems on my 650.

The TT screen is wonderful, highly recommended

Hello from Spain. (excuse my very bad english...)

A few is giving us problems this display of TT.
We have been burned.

BMW has changed the parts under warranty, they know that the problem is caused by these screens will not change and more.

You get an example of my bike.

I bought the Powerbronze screen at the NEC for 70 quid.

It is fantastic. My commute is approx 25 mins worth of motorway and the difference is incredible. I rode to work on Mon and Tues when the temp was -5.5 and the only part of me that was cold was my arms and my thumbs...

Cee Bailey Euro style

A lot of people speak highly of the Cee Bailey Euro style windshield. I bought one and it should be delivered in a week or so. I like the light grey tint. It seems to absorb the bright light that kills my eyes!
Mr. Pete--->
p.s. I have purchased at least six windshields from them over the past several years. They are excellent quality.

mmm the curved top kills it for me. I'm quite a fan of the 800GS's aggressive styling and part of that is the angular screen. Touratech have paid homage to that with their screen extender and indeed their own larger screen.

For me the elongated screens combined with the BMW beak give it a Marg Simpson look IMHO. The Cee Bailey one I've used as an example here is not so bad. I think I saw an Eagle screen on a 650GS and that was Marg Simpson alright!

i'm using the Ergo screen by wunderlich.
light tint, 420mm high.

great product. the wind hits my helmet on the top portion.
i'm 5'6".. 169cm..

After reading this entire thread, much deliberation, and now a few weeks later re-reading it... I had just decided to go with the BMW Touring screen. $321 American. A little butt-pain, but fine, I can deal with it.

Then I notice an additional $152 for the mounting kit?!?! REALLY?! I mean come ON. I'm not that new to BMW's pricing with this being my second Beem, but are we a little full of ourselves? 473 dollars for a little piece of formed plastic and an aluminum(?) bar? That thing had best come with a little leprechaun that jumps out when I'm not looking and cleans the shield (and maybe my dishes to boot!).

*@&#. Out of protest I refuse to pay that. So now I'm back to square one. Has anyone yet come across that *near perfect* option yet? Something to suit me well on a 10,000 mile ride from Minnesota through Central America into South America and back? I stand 5'9" and would prefer the shield to not get in the way of my handguards (1200GS style) and hopefully not be too fuggo (I can't lie, I'm something of a fashion wh*%e), in addition to that other silly reason to buy one, excellent wind protection without killing my helmet.
@#$!%*(explative)@#$!*^ BMW!

I understand totally! its out of control the way they charge but remember they might not sell it to you or i but the next person to walk in who hasn't done his/her research will buy what is recommended by the dealer.

on another note, for a well priced easy fitment screen i recommend the Eagle screen. I have added some info based on the F650gs twin but they will fit the F800gs. I am going to get the extended touring screen.

can anyone please inform me of the standard F800gs screen height?

Here is some information on the Eagle Screens.. the pricing is in $aud so i thought its reasonable.

Standard (made from 3mm material in a range of colours) for $140

Small Touring (300mm made from 4.0mm thick material) for $170
Mediumtour.jpg

Medium Touring (made from 4.0mm thick material) for $190 350mm tall

and Extended Touring (made from 4.0mm thick material) for $210 (400mm tall)

I personally would go the extended tourer which is similar to the BMW touring screen i think. the bmw touring screen is (400mm or 440mm -/+) . They are not all that stylish but they aren't gonna cost you a left arm and an ear..

cheers.:D

How do you know if it changes the protection if you havent riden with the screen? How tall are you? i think its hard for BMW to make a screen to fit a happy medium.

how did the test run go?

TT screen

I purchased the BMW touring set up with the bracket. Unfortunately, I didn't like the windscreen...little increased protection. I opted for the TT screen. I retained the BMW bracket and after fitting the TT screen, drilled two hole so I could add additional bolts to the bracket. This really makes the TT screen much more rigid. I then added a TT windscreen spoiler on the TT screen. Much better protection. For warmer riding or off road, I just remove the spoiler. I have been riding in 32F+ degree weather and I find it very good in protection. The air flow now just hits at the top of my helmet...just where I want it. The BMW screen is for sale if anyone is interested.

Has anyone had any experience with the Wunderlich screen yet??

me. not bad. am using the 420mm light tint one.
the wind hits the top portion of my helmet.. slightly buzzy but better than the oem 800gs windshield for sure.

Can you please post a pic with the spoiler on. I have the TT screen and was thinking about this set-up.
