Adventure screen for 800GS?

I've been looking at higher screens for better touring on my 800, and have read some good things about the Wunderlich Ergo screen. Does anyone know if this is similar to the one on the 1200 Adventure? Without remortgaging my house for the TT Desierto F fairing screen, is there a similar screen to the Wunderlich that might be better? There's endless debate about aftermarket screens, and I can't decide! I like the look of the Wunderlich very much . . . .

Givi high screen F800GS, I'm 6'2" & love this screen, helmet lid folds down due to wind 70/80mph ;)

However I cannot quite reach full steering lock, so l'll swap it over for original one for MOT.

+1 for the Givi screen. :thumb2

£67 from Ghost bikes in Preston + £10 fitting brackets.

Hijack Alert!!
Micky how do you find the Wunderlich seat i borrowed the BMW comfort seat and although comfortable it holds you in one postition can you move around on the Wunderlich seat?

It does look interesting, yes, but it's MUCH more expensive! The above Vario screen looks useful; aside from the different settings that are available with it, is it appreciably better than the Ergo? I still prefer the looks of the Ergo.

ps - Micky, those handguards look very good! What make are they? I use the BMW ones and, whilst they protect in the event of falls, my hands aren't exactly shielded!

Aye up Colin ... I can usually find the seat where I left it ... on the bike ;)

Seriously it's fine. You can move about on it OK. One problem is, and I told Wunderlich (the seat is a prototype) that it slopes gently forward and under heavy braking downhill you can suffer crushed nuts

Otherwise, with my backside, good for megga miles :thumb

The handguards are Touratech and work just great :thumb

F800 GS standard screen for sale.

No idea at all why anyone would want a standard screen at all, but I have one, it's off my old F800, and its spotless as far as I can remember. £50 should do it. If you're local to me then I might even deliver it. I'm in Camberley in Surrey.:hide

F800Gs touring screen - how good is the original

Hello everybody,
despite there is a comprehensive thread about the touring screens for 800GS, I was unable to digest all the information in it. Basically what I learned is, that each rider is different and each screen might suit well a rider of certain heigth. So which one of the right one :)?
I have made my mind that I want the BMW high touring screen, but I want to feel confident that it is the right choice for me.

Could someone who has the original BMW with touring screen provide me with the following information:

How high is the touring screen and until what height of rider is (in your opition) is the BMW touring screen suitable. I am ca 186 cm tall and dont want all the wind that is hitting my chect now to hit my head.

Many thanks in advance

Vaclav

Hello Vaclav,

Sorry cannot give you dimensions as im away at work, however I am 170cm (bit taller than a very short person!!!)with a rounded helmet ie not one with a visor I can cruise along at 85/90 with no problems, life savers on the motorway are not a problem.
If I were my tour x then i struggle as the wind catches underneath the visor and its an epic.
It does not keep the worst of the weather of you,but find tilting the helmet to one side clears enough of the rain to make it not an issue.
I have tried other screens and come back to this.

Vac ...

I wasn;t sure how much good the standard screen was doing.... until I took it off !

If I'm honest, the taller (+8cm) screen I tried made a difference, but it wasn't great.

IMHO the OE screen works just as well as it needs to ....

I have fiited a laminar lip to the original f8gs screen and wanted something better as im getting a lot of noise around my helmet im 5'7 and have low seat and so brought the above SCREEN via ebay in the full height and width and youi can ask them to trim to whatever you require, quality is absolutely perfect however there was no improvement regarding noise and for me it looked like i fitted a barn door but i suppose to gain improvement this is the only way to go big and wide, after having tried a variety of screens my nxt step will be the deseirto but at 500 notes i hope this works.
