Sounds good Steve, I plan on getting one for mine pretty soon.
8 or 10mm? 2010 GS 800, ordering new and nowhere near the bike to measure up.
Thanks in advance

Hi all
I have a 2009 F800GS and the front sprocket and chain need replacing so i am thinking of fitting a DID,s X-Ring Gold Plate Chain and a smaller front sprocket to lower the gearing for off road while i,m at it.
I have not been riding that long so would appreciate if some advice.
Firstly how many teeth does the original sprocket have and does a smaller one which is preferential for off road simply have one less tooth.
Secondly i have been looking online and i think the correct spec chain is a
DID's X-Ring Gold Plate 525 VM2 120 link, is this correct and does the front sprocket size have any bearing on what chain to use.
And finally how difficult would this be to fit this myself ?
(Are there any pitfalls ?)
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The correct chain length is 116 links. The standard sprocket is 16 tooth, and you can get 15 tooth. Need tools and may be some one to help that had done it before to walk you through.
The original chain gave me over 40,000kms of trouble free service and still had some life left in her.
Cleaning and lubing will do that. I replaced mine with a Regina endless and took the opportunity to lube the swingarm set up.
Again, preventive maintenance. Where I ride I dont leave things to chance.
