have any of you fitted the Akrapovic tailpipe to your GS 800?

If so...what do you think and is it too loud?

Does it come with an up-rated ECU and a sports air filter?

Does it increase performance a bit?

I am test riding a GS 800 on hopefully Monday. I popped over to my local dealer yesterday and sat on the demo and started it up...feels very nice and i love the design...it looks great in black and yellow imo...but it did sound a bit quiet when idling and reving it up?

It looks great and sounds superb. At first I thought it is to loud but if you compare to some chopper pipes you'll change your mind:bounce1
Baffle is easy to remove and has to be, otherwise is no point...I think Performance is slightly better, no filter.

I didn't run the dyno before putting the pipe on, but with Akra is almost as in the book, on the back wheel...

I'm not sure if there is any extra power gain but I had one fitted from new. As for sound, the difference is massive when you take the decible killer out. It has a deep burble and although its noisier than the stock, it's not to bad at all. I love the sound and when you shut the throttle off, then you get a popping noise which is superb. I think it looks great compared to the stock one as well, smaller and seems to sit in tighter to the bike. If you can get your head around the price, go for it. Ask your dealer if he can give you some discount, mine came out at £440 inc vat. If you ever sell your bike, you will be able to sell the akro seperate and it will still fetch good money.

gain: 1 pk :eek but the top power is delivered much earlier 7777 rpm in place 8400 rpm. It's nothing almost, so sound and look then :blast

Akra Pipe

I just can't rationalize spending that much on the pipe.

It sounds real great though :bounce1
 
Think just this way, you'll spend this money on something else anyway :roll If you keep this money it's not yours, it's a property of the goverment, etc. Just by the pipe :bounce1

I'll go with that... great piece o' kit and worth every penny, but then there are those that will go fifty mile out of their way to fill up at a penny a litre less :eek:

BMW Akro quieter than standard exhaust but nice deep sound to it. Now ride with the baffle removed, not noisy at all but great sound to it. Just done 4,000 mile round trip to Morocco... no probs. Lot lighter and better looking than stock :thumb

Looks so much better than the standard can , but why are they so expensive :eek:

Ackroprovic are quality stuff but at a premium...what does it work out for the 800gs ? £110 per foot of exhaust :eek:

Dont get me wrong i have had previous bikes with full systems (zxr 400 and ktm 400 exc) plus a zx636 with silencer only, all sounded so nice :thumb and i did remove them before selling the bikes and replaced the standard boring systems and sold them on good old e bay :thumb2

Just seems like they are very greedy with the price :mad:

I cannot justify buying one for my gs....but it will happen in a moment of madness :augie as my mate has on fitted to his and it does sound nice :cool:
 
Do the Vario panniers still fit ok with the Akro?

I'm guessing yes, but knowing how my guesses usually end up................
 
Taking the cat out

I am travelling next year and have been wondering about removing the cat due to the possibility of leaded fuel.

Can anyone tell me if the ECU/injection system can cope with this or do I need to adjust the fuelling/fit a power commander. Also same question with removing the baffles from the aftermarket can?

Also, are the brakes linked like the 1200's or separate as I have RTM'ed and cannot find anything.
