"How big a job to fit them"
I would say a good couple of hours, you have to take off dummy tank panel both rad side panels, front beek, they say you can leave the rad connected just swing it back to give access to bolts but i decided to drain the rad and remove totaly, makes life so much more easy getting at the bolts. Once your this far all you need to do is remove silencer undo the sensor with a 24mm spanner and its off.
Its not a difficult job it just seems like you have to strip half the bike to get it done, will try and get some pics up of it stripped.

Cheap slip on exhausts on well known auction site

Just noticed a slip on exhaust for sale that seems incredibly cheap, but still CE stamped and road legal. It's an "Alloy Round / Oval Slip-on Viper Exhaust".

Really inexpensive at £110 for the round one.

Anybody any experience of these?

Just because they have the 'China Export' mark doesn't necessarily mean they are road legal.

Its road legal if it doesn't have "NOT FOR ROAD USE" or competition use only stamped on it and doesn't make a racket. Actually even if it is loud a lot of MOT testers will let it go because they have no form of proof how loud it is and don't want the grief from punters. If its ridiculous it will still fail and it will also raise the interest of the police.
Whether it will be any good or strangle the engine is another matter entirely.

Fitted a new can last night

Having arranged to meet Argee of this parish to hand over a tyre, I was pleasantly surprised by the note of his F800. Rich said it was a Beowulf. A nice looking bit of kit with removable baffles which Rich left in place (me too as i don't want to be mistaken for a teenager ..... :augie ) and it was smaller, lighter and had a much nicer burp to it when you open the throttle up. But not enough to be a 'look at me and please stop me Mr Plod', ear shattering insult to anyone's earholes.

I got back from holiday last week and ordered one for myself.

Fitted it last night and rode my bike to work as i always do. Every time i opened the throttle up i had to laugh :D Nice note and it seems to feel like the motor breaths a bit better too.

Here's some comparison photos showing the stock can and the Beowulf.

If I can be arsed, I'll weigh both and see what the actual weight difference is.

Yeah I got one too and they are bloody good !

Must admit to running mine without the baffle which is great when filtering !

Only problems are my missus complains of a sore head after riding pillion and I got it back from a service last week and there was a note on the 'Advisory' slip that the exhaust was 'Loud' !!

:thumb nice Russ.

Is that the 450 round can ? Mine's the 380 oval.

I don't think which can you have makes much difference does it ? :nenau

I'm sure I'll have to at least try it without the baffle in but, like you say, only when solo riding :D

Knocked the baffle out of the Akrapovic because I am a childish bastard, but a few burps and farts certainly let people know when I'm filtering.

Nice work on the Beowulf :-)

Was goning to get one of the Fuel carbon look cans, but this looks better value with the baffle included

Hi Dave, how was the hol?

My pipe is the titanium oval version and is 2.5 kilos lighter than the bog pipe, fyi.

In the same vein, I liked your Wunderlich handguards so much I ordered a pair, should arrive tomorrow:beerjug:

was that you I saw riding in the pissing down rain by Sainsburys in Bury yesterday Dave. Looked like you, had a 12 riding close behing.

If it was i just wanted to say you looked quite damp :augie but fair do's for being out in that when your house is so close :clap

Hi Rich, great holiday thanks. So you got the Ti can , eh ? Nice. I presume they all sound the same ? Give me a shout when you fancy a ride. If the management is going to go, i'll chuck mine on the back too :D

Shad, not me i think. Though if the guy was wearing an open face, then it would likely be me - don't see any GSers wearing them. I'd never been seen riding near a 1200 :D but I've been doing my 75 mile commute since early March -regardless of weather - and only used my car 2 or 3 times. I've yet to get wet under my Barbour suit ;)
