► GPS mounts/connections and Autocomm (consolidated)

Can't help thinking that your plug is going to fill up with water when it's raining.

I'm thinking the same, canbus part is on order - short supply it would seem.

BTW, I was detecting a strange buzzing/rattling from under the dummy tank for the first few miles - took the front covers off this weekend and found it was the power connector which hadn't been clipped into the bracket and was hanging loose.

wiring directly?

Has anyone wired their add-ons (eg GPS or autocom) direct to the battery rather than through the canbus route? I'm going to be working on mine tonight and don't want to throw the bike software out if there's a risk of going direct to battery (which is my preferred option as it saves buying parts).

I connected my zumo direct to the battery and it works fine for me I cept the fuse and just loose the terminals and stuck it under .

Don,t connect a Autocom direct to your battery. It will run it flat. It needs to be swiched via the ignition.

F800GS switched ignition live wire???

Installed my autocom 300 tonight and just plugged it into the battery. That said, over time (how long I don't know), that'll just flatten it. Has anyone any idea where I might find a said wire or point to plug the live feed into on an 800GS?

There's a spare CANBUS terminal strapped to the top of the battery. Nippy Norman can supply a connector :thumb

Of course, unless the bike's left sitting for ages between uses, it'll be fine as it is. The current drain from an Autocom that isn't doing anything is minoot..... er.... munite..... er...... bloody small :o

On all my 1100 / 1150 / 1200 and 650 GS's I've just used the accessory socket to power the Autocom. Overnight I doubt it'll flatten the battery if I forget to disconnect it, and for longer periods of bike inactivity, I disconnect the autocom and plug the charger in. This way doesn't mess with ignition switched circuits, which if I need to talk to SWMBO means having to have the engine running.

Works for me YMMV ;)

autocom connection

It's ok, I spliced the autocom live feed into the auxiliary socket live under the 'tank-cover' and it's done the trick. There's a 1 min timer on it then it switches off and my battery breathes a sigh of relief.

BMW Handguards with Extensions & Zumo/GPS mount

BMW Handguards with extensions, very robust and dirty I know. Zumo/GPS mount, excellent position and GPS will still be visible with tank bag fitted. All bits supplied by Southport Superbikes and I believe they have stock of all items.

not the answer your lookin for, but if the FSG bars are smaller in diamiter you could use spacers , half moon type. (if ye cant get any i could make em ,if you have the dimensions) offers there!
ugg.

If its the same size as my RAM Mount, then yes, it should fit.
(I used the spacer to prevent damage to the bars, not for sizing).
