Diagnostic Plug

The one at the back is for the BMW alarm if fitted.

The round one is the diagnostic plug. GS911 connects to this one and as mentioned the rear one is for the alarm. In previous posts you will see how to connect to the canbus system using a dealer supplied plug. HTH

Garmin 550 mount...

Any suggestions as to how to mount my new (second hand) 550 to my 650gs twin. It only came with the unti and the power cradle, no mountings.

I was thinking about touratech bu not sure as I have heard mixed reviews about the quality.

Cheers for the help! :beerjug:

I use the one by Alder Enterprises. I got it off eBay for about £50. It's a great bit of kit, and mounts on the bars between the risers. This also puts it in a good position for taking power off the CanBus socket near the battery.

Having said all that, I'm not totally sure that the 650 has the same size bars as my 800?

Thanks for the link, I've never come across them before. They do one for the 650gs twin, just not to sure if it is mounted too low for what I want!

I'm using the RAM mount, with the that is supplied with the TomTom Urban, + RAM lock.

The RAM Parts Numbers are -

RAM-B-309-7
+
RAM-B-201-A short arm
+
RAM-B-347

They are quite sturdy and very adjustable, I'll post an image later :)

Zumo 350 mount next to clocks

I have had my Zumo 350 mounted on the bars of my 800GS from new. But now my eyes seem to have erm.... recalibrated themselves, and I could do with the gps being further away, so I can focus on it

It's on the original RAM mount and I wasn't particularly keen on forking out for a fancy mounting to relocate it. I was scratching my head a bit, until, in a few idle moments spent browsing Adventure Rider, I found a photo of a mobile phone mounted on a RAM mount, in the gap to the left of the clocks. The RAM was attached to the mounting bar for the BMW Adventure screen (which is also fitted to my bike). I thought I would have a go at moving the RAM mount, just to see if the Zumo would fit in this space.

Mounting on bars:

Just needed a bit of trial and error to get the mounting in a place where the unit wouldn't foul the bars.

Road trials tomorrow, weather permitting :) :moped:
