Tempting!
need the bike first mind lol, according to my local (Rainbow) it will be pushing about a grand for the panniers + topbox + racks,,, hmmmm,, finance on new bike is my friend,,, just gotta wait a month or two lol
Check these out, got them for Xmas from Winding Roads.
Wanted some aluminium panniers but after seeing the dramas they caused some other tosser after a crash on a recent morocco trip i decided on the soft panniers.
Could you provide us a link ?
Cheers
Can these fix without the straps across the seat? Would be hopeless if you have a pillion? Also how much was the G-IT luggage rack?
i used these for a trip to Mongolia recently, and they're absolutely brilliant. Much prefer them to my alu cases. they are tougher and much lighter. having said that, in a bid to get lighter still (they needs aluminium rails), i'll flog 'em (they're by no means pristine!) for the Giant Loop original bag.

I had the old grab rail on the back which obviously had to come off when the rascks went on so probobly not to much weight added)) also having never met you Si i dont know what shape you are (and this is not aimed at you) but in my experience the majority of GS riders are lets say a little more portly than they should be so rather than worrying about a few pounds on a aluminium rack lets use that gym membership and loose a little
In answer to the other questions, the straps fit nicely under the seat, i just left them over the top so you could see the whole thing, and they were well easy to fit. even refitting the exhaust muffler.
Rode 80 miles in the pi ssing rain this morning and all contents 100% dry![]()
I presume the racks bolt to the frame above the rear wheel, I have just noticed two threaded holes there!
What screen have you got fitted? I have fitted barkbusters like you so they must clear the screen.

No Problem Bri
Nige, They are really easy to fit, two bolts underneath and two on top, it comes with all the bits to fit it and as you can see by the photos it still fits well with the luggage plate on the back. it is also real easy to fit the bags to the racks with 2 straps and 8 little metal clips. they are extremelly sturdy, i think they will last a long time.
Its the metal mule screen which gives me about an inch gap with the barkbusters and the bars on full lock. i am 6 ft and i get a bit of wind buffeting on my shoulders and helmet but i like the feel of it and its bearable even at over 100mph
