My pix were taken where it was dry - I was too busy trying to stay upright elsewhere :)

Here's a couple showing that I wasn't the only person to bend something - I am sure Gareth will explain...:D

Explain... hmm...

Well, firstly I saw the wooden stumps while hacking along and said to myself "I wonder what would happen if I someone stacks it into them, they are pretty solid :nenau"...

Then

"I hope I don't stack it into them:eek"

Then

"oh sh!t, I've just taken off and stacked it into a 14" diameter post... FCUK it!:blast"

All was good I thought, only a broken fog light (once repaired anyway), but then 100M further up I needed to turn left, but she didn't want to!
I'd crumpled the front bracket, causing it to push up against the headstock and foul against cables when stearing left!

The pics are of myself and Mike (BMW SLM, Dimond Geezer) smashing sh!t out of the bracket so I could carry on...:clap

Oh, I stacked it again just after the left turn and broke my screan mounts:spitfire

Into SLM on Thursday, will be drunk  on rugby tour on friday when I get the call :hide

Other than that, great day and look forward to the next (I may think about keeping the bike out of the air this time!)

Gareth... I was aiming to give you a leg up to give you enough height to get downward motion with your rock on the GSA Frame Adjuster... didn't realise chris was pointing his camera! :blast

Did you make it to Birmingham after all...?

cheers
Neil

I didn't make it up to Brum... I decided to give the bike a rest, which was a good thing as the bike needed lots of bent bits replaced (enough to cost a hell of a lot of money) - insurance job now:blast

Onwards and upwards... can't wait for another day out, this time I'll remember the adapter for my helmet cam and I'll record my next off:augie

Gareth.

See what happens when you go out to play & don't ask me along :green gri

Yeah .. it's got a good crack in a side panel from its ORS days too .. I'm not too precious about it though...

I was surprised at how brave I was on the thing, some of the drops *seemed* bloody steep..! I stayed upright though which is always a bonus ...

Moto Morocco with an F800GS

I'm on the verge of booking a Moto Morocco holiday for my big Four-O next year... I'm going to take (or have taken) my 800 Bumble Bee but just can't quite make my mind up weather to do the level 1 or level 2.

Just wondering if any other 800'ers were thinking of doing it as it'd would be nice not to be outnumbered and be the subject of much ribbing from the posing 1200 fraternity.

I've read the Moto Morocco thread but it would be nice to hear specifically how the 800 fairs on the trip if anyone has done the expedition, ( I see Mickey is one of the squadron leaders).

moto morocco

we are booked for nov 09 , chuck yourself in the deep end and go for level 2 , even my missus is taking the challenge on her v strom!
I believe the level 1 does some of the level 2 route anyway.

I did the WOBMW off road morocco trip last year on my 800. I had virtually no offroad experience but these bikes are amazing. I rode trails that some of the 1200's really struggled with and had a fantastic time. Do the level 2 for sure!

Im hoping to do the Moto Morocco at some point this year as well.
Virtually no off-road experience but have GS will travel ;-)
Just need to save the pennies and remember to book a place before they sell out!

Hi Nik.....the horse's mouth here :D

800's do extremely well on our trips.....plenty quick enough on road and light enough to go everywhere as well.....fitted with engine bars and TKC's the bike is definitely up for either trip.

Just to clarify the differences between the 'level1' and 'level2'.....it's just the first few days, that's all.

On the Level 1 trips we start off on some dead easy pistes- little more than unsurfaced roads actually.....just to let people find their feet and get used to the dirt.

After that, each day is a step up....a bit bumpier, a bit rockier, a bit looser...until by the end of the first four days we can do pretty much any piste that's suitable for a large traily.

In theory, you probably don't even notice the progression :)

On the 'Level2' trips though, we jump straight in at the bigger, more interesting pistes.....

Because the Level 1 trips tend to move slower, we tend to cover less ground, so over the 12 or so days riding, you'll probably see slightly less of the country overall......and on the Level 2 trips, we often go off exploring and find some new pistes and tracks because we don't have to worry about it so much.

In fairness though, on the Level 1 trip I got back from two weeks ago, we went off and found some new stuff and had a whale of a time....we keep a sharp eye on all the riders and try and judge where we're going by how well they're doing. (this may mean pushing some boundaries occasionally but we take it slowly and take alternative routes if we need to)

If you've got a bit of experience off-road and (very importantly) a 'can=do' attitude and a want the best trail riding we can provide in Morocco, come along on a Level 2 trip.

Having said all that, we're thinking of abandoning the two levels altogether TBH...we usually have a pretty good idea of how people can ride after the first two days and can adjust things accordingly, and as both levels end up the same anyway, we may just have an 'on road' trip for those who only want sealed roads and an 'off road' for those who want to ride off tarmac- then we'll adjust the speeds we cover the routes and the choice of pistes as we go, suiting the choice of pistes to abilities of the groups as we make our way around the country.

On the trip I'm leaving on in a week's time, we're doing pretty much that.....we'll start slow and then move on as we find out how people can ride- don't tell Garfield though, I don't want to frighten the poor love :D

PS If anyone's thinking of booking, please do so as soon as possible- for one thing, we have some groups booking now to take up whole trips (we've got a bunch of 10 Norwegians booked for March next year and they're having an exclusive trip) and spaces are filling up fast- get in now and you won't find that your dream trip isn't available!

I'm on 077 9595 4449 if there's anything else you'd like to know, or our office number is a local rate call on 0845 257 7812.

Cheers, and hopefully see you on the pistes with us soon!
