► Post pics of your F650/800GS

Hey Mr Joker... any chance you could divulge where near Silverstone that byway is... Google maps, coordinates... whatever really :-)

This one is just off the A43... but I'd rather show it to you, if you're in the 'hood. :thumb2

Can't beat a couple of hundreds miles followed by an afternoon's cleaning :-)

Think i need to add some bling to this here bike, given 1st birthday's coming up for the bike. Starting with the seat being sent off for a gel insert me thinks!

Just need to add plasters to all the missing skin on my hands - plenty of sharp bits to catch on!!

Never realised how many lanes are in that area. And nice to see alot have restrictions on 4x4s so won't be completely rutted

I often wear those latex mechanics gloves for this reason - it hasn't stopped me getting the odd scratch but there's been a few times where I've ripped through the glove where it would otherwise have ripped through skin! :comfort

took me ages to get round to taking a few pics. Picked here up in April with 4200 miles on the clock, now covered 9k, mainly commmuting. Just took had the 3 main recalls done as nothing had been done by the previous owner, so i got a nice new shiney chain and sprockets for free :D. Only problem i've had so far is a clutch tension bolt come loose, unscrew itself and started catching on the engine cover, but got that fixed on the road side and carried on my trip :D. Clutch is dragging a lot so guessing i'll need to sort that out in the next few 1000 miles. Only mods so far are the F800 front beak and the home made rear box (pelibox style case from ebay for £30, mounted through the the rear grab handle bolts). 1200GS Handguards and a taller screen next on the list.

Your the first person I know to have bought the extended fuel tank, was it worth it??

A load of tosh for the wannabe's :nenau

Save your money for the trip I say :rob

Rode through the Gobi desert on the old F650's and never had the petrol warning light come on :blast

The F800GS will go even further to a tankful :thumb

So can't see the point ....

I agree, and whilst the additional range without stopping is nice, and quite possibly reassuring, the trip IS about stopping, seeing and meeting... Plus, it kinda defeats the object, at least for me, in choosing the 800 over the 1200 i.e weight. You can always strap on a couple of Jerry cans if needed, which I don't think it is, even in the most remote places your probably within tank range (200-250 miles). Conversely, it's also a personalisation of their bike and I have no objection to people doing whatever they want to their steed, more power to ya. At least it's out and being ridden and it's not just a collectors trophy. It's just not something I would do, plenty of other mods I'd do with the money or better still keep me on the road for X more months! Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz.

For ME it is it worth,
I don't really need it in Morocco but when I make some rides here in Belgium, French, Germany I can take some cheap petrol from Luxemburg and so I have not to change my trips depending on the fuellstations.
I didn't mount the tank like TT explains, I have conected the 2 fuell "pipes" at the ventilation of the main tank, so i don't need to drill holes into the main tank an I can remove him in a minute.
And so I have to stop only 3 times when I rode last januari from her to Murcia (1822km +/-1100 mile) in one day

and last year

and everybody does with his money what he want's,
I know even people who put street tires on there Bike :D

Strewth ... you spend all that money on a bigger tank so that you can buy cheap petrol in Luxembourg and ride in Belgium, France and Germany on that cheap petrol ... but you're OK in Morocco :blast

Where's the saving there then ;)

Feck me ... you buy a big tank to ride round Europe :rob

I apologise of course ... you're right... everyone does with his money what he wants :thumb

I agree that it's possible to take an 800 most places without a big tank. However, if the pic was in sainsbury's car park, I'd agree with the wannabes bit. Given the location of the pic and mileage of the bike, I'd say here's somebody who has at least made use of their expensive upgrades to get to some cool places. Good on ya!

and great pictures you have posted but hey it loks so cool even when its going nowhere it looks like it wants to go :D :D :D :D

I agree people do tend to do what they like with there bikes and there money some do nothing :nenau some buy a £7k bike and and go rtw with a pair of pants and some duct tape i can understand all that.

some say its not worth it!

all you 800 girlies do you find your selves asking is it worth it ? :augie

I like the screen also whats the story with that, it looks cool :beerjug:
