Look what just arrived!
GS.jpg

But I cant see it or ride it home until Saturday because it is 420km away.

Adeeelnv, could you please post some more photos of those hand guards and let me know what type they are? Oh and nice bike BTW!

These are the only two photos I have of the hand guards. Im pretty sure they are were made by Wunderlich (same as the screen), but I dont know exactly what they are.

Love the dark color of the bike! And all the farkles look neat and minimal..
And although I m not a fan of plastic boxes this one doesn't look bad at all..

Im not sure what to think of the top box. Im sure it will be handy to have, but I dont know if it suits it.
I ordered these panniers for it, which should be here soon.

They are the 46L ones, so with two of those and the top case, I will have heaps of room for when I ride across the country in october.
I think they will look pretty good on it.

How wide are they? 46L is humongous!

310mm, I think. The bike will be pretty wide with the two of them mounted. I will post more photos when I get them

I currently ride a Spyder and the panniers that come with it are 34L (Givi V35) and they are only just big enough to fit everything I need for long trips. So I thought I might as well get really big ones so I have plenty of space.

It's no more compulsory to take a so-called dual purpose bike off road than it is to take a sports bike to the track ..... otherwise BMW would have 'bothered' to put knobblies on it as standard :D

I take mine off road a lot but a motocross machine it surely isn't.

And just coz I do take it off road doesn't mean that those who don't are in some way 'wrong' or not having an 'adventure' (whatever the fcuk that is supposed to mean ... ) . :nenau

Ive got a KTM for that malarkey !

So you'll be getting on for nearly 114cm... I have two balanced 38L Zega Pro's, which gives me a width of 102cm, I wouldn't want any bigger than that. Not much wider than my bars, I'm just narrow enough to filter through the traffic jams. Do you use a tank bag, tail bag or duffle bag to increase carrying capacity? They're nice looking cases though, bit more rugged looking.

I have a small tank bag to put my phone, wallet and other stuff in. For long trips I also have a fold up chair and a bag strapped on the back with my tent, mattress, sleeping bag and pillow.

Oh, you.
I like the Spyder, but the GS is better. I went halves in it with my dad in 2009. My brother doesnt like it much and for the last year or so he has been telling me to get my own bike. He said I should get a Tiger 800. I took an 800 XC for a test ride and it was good, but a bit too big.
I also took the F650 for a test ride and I loved it, so thats why I bought one. I was really lucky to find that one on ebay with all those extras and only 4900km for $11500.

I have just added a fewmore bits, so here it is with Givi engine bars; TT handguards; BMW touring screen; TT oil cooler and radiator guards and wunderlich levers. I am just waiting to fit the scottoiler than it will be just as I want it :thumb2

I picked it up on the weekend and I love it

I have already taken it on a short dirt road and gotten past carefully dropping it for the first time while being distracted by a slowly oncoming truck. Nothing got scratched or damaged, so it went pretty well. But its ok, thats what these bikes are for. I just need to get the crash bars on before I go off road again.

My panniers arrived today as well, so I will post photos when I get them on.

I got the panniers on last night. They are huge and kind of stick out more than I was expecting, they are 115cm wide. The storage space will be great.

I dont have the correct Givi top case mount, so I had to make my own little brackets.

did they not do a reduced near side so the width is the same either side of the bike ???? as that looks out of kilter

The left side does stick out further than the right. You can get a smaller 36L version to fix that problem, but I wanted two big ones.
If I change my mind in the future, I can buy the smaller one for the side and use the big one on the top.

I had two tin boxes on mine and they were far to wide, the crunch came when I boarded the fast cat to Normandy and got the bike stuck between the rail and the side of the ship :eek:I didnt dare filter in traffic so in the end I changed the big tins for Pelican cases aka Caribou cases.I managed to get the same amount of gear in them this year as I did with the big tins last year. They are only a fraction wider than the bars now.
