► Post pics of your F650/800GS

That looks really good. I wouldnt have sold it if it was mine.

Don't get me wrong, really, and I do mean really loved the 800, it did everything you asked of her, but after nearly two years it was time to cut my losses.

The list with breakdown's wasn't getting ant shorter, warranty was about to run out, and the real problem is that the dealer (allthough I have a good relationship with him, and he's been really helpfull) is replacing crappy parts with just the same OEM BMW crappy parts. And you know you're gonna be in the same situation within that many km's, 'cause these parts are rubbish.

By the way, here's the list:

- Ignition lock going berserk (ignition just flipping on and off, with the key inside the house )
- Second time ignition lock, this time taking the battery and EWS-ring with it.
- Valve cover was crooked, replaced with a straight one.
- Gear indicator just went crazy :pullface
- Oil coming in the watercircuit through the bearing on the waterpump.
- Ballhead bearings shot, bike was going like a wet cloth :nenau
- Cluth warn on 38000km
- Front wheel bearing shot to pieces, 2 cm of play on the rim
- Gear indicator having another go :blast
- and finally waterpump seal leaking again, with the drive towards the waterpump being broken :tears

What would you have done in my shoes :anger

Grtz, Philip!

That's the big problem, the niggles weren't sorted out. I mean, seriously, twice the gear indicator, twice the ignition, twice the waterpump seal faillure...

I wasn't gonna wait until another repetetive breakdown and havig to pay it out of my own pocket. Damn, if I've known this, I would've gottan me a 990 Adventure

No, any bit of confidence and trust in the bike was gone coming back from my second Morocco ride, wheel bearings shot and the clutch gone. And I know how to ride a bike, done plenty of km's on my other bikes, never worn the clutch.
I'm not the one who's gonna be stuck in the freaking dessert with a bike he can't trust :blast

Grtz, Philip!

A few more. Currently in Poland...

Oh, I won't tell the F8 owners about the Rear forks If you Don't ;) :thumb

???

I've upgraded anyway... there was no way I could have gone where I went with what I carried with standard suspension. I can reccomend the Jacugar progressive upgrade for the front, its really easy to DIY. Give FTR suspension a ring for advice.

I like to see a bike being used miles going on :thumb2 I almost forgot how good the red ones look :D :D :D :beerjug:

What you doing with the front forks Dave?

I did wonder myself why I put front forks!

I have been FTR'd have the yacougar front and Ohlin Rear, transformed the bike no end (both ends) a far different bike from standard :thumb2:D

Not a problem, I found it rather funny!

My other half calls it a wedding hat, we're getting married in a week and off on honeymoon down to Cornwall on the bike!

Your bike looks awesome as always! No plans to change to a 700 than?

Route des Grande Alpes

Did a version of the RdGA a few months back - awesome riding and scenery, can thoroughly recommend it though i would suggest not doing the route at the start of June as dragging the bike, uphill, through the snow on some of the passes was 'character building'! From avalanches to mudslides, freezing fog to 31 degree heat the bike didn't miss a beat.

A few of the better pics...
