TKCs in West London

Does anyone know a good stockist/fitter that stocks the TKCs in the right sizes for the 800GS? None of the usual suspects seem to stock them, only road tyres

Try Black Circles online pay for them on there they deliver to a place of your choice that is close to you and the fitting is included in the online price, they seem fairly competitive about to give them a try myself for the X challenge..

TKC 80s for the F800GS?

I know the answer is on this forum somewhere but my searches yield no firm information (and that goes for a search of the Continental site as well)

What, please, are the correct tyres for the TKC 80's on a F800GS (2008/9 bike) and does anyone have a good source for thick spare innertubes?

tyre sizes

front - tkc 80, 90/90-21 tl (54Q)
rear- tkc 80 150/70-17 tl (69Q)

you need the bits in the () as the same size fits the bigger bikes but its a weight thing apparently

Munched tyre

Done 3k miles since getting the 800GS last Oct. Total miles 3200.

Rear Battlewing is pretty well shot. Is this good, bad or indifferent?

I got 4000 from mine, I've seen others say 8000.

My front was far more worn than the rear - but the rear was badly squared off and was unnerving over white lines.

Mine have done 6000 now and i reckon the rear has another 2000 in it but my front is nearly worn out which i have never had before fronts normally last much longer.
How do you manage to munch a tyre after only 3k?

Dunno hence the question. But my front one is nearly shot too - which really does suprise me.

I do like playing with the traffic (what little we get) and winding the bugger open coming out of twisties...maybe that's apart of it? I don't know - but I expected more than 3-4k out of them. It's fairly squared as well. Chain's only been adjusted once in the same mileage.

I'm happy with the tyres on the road though, now I've got used to the 'twitchyness' over white lines and banding from the front end in the wet.

I get 8000 or so miles out of a Tourance on my GSA doing off-road, scratching on A/B roads and motorway slogs. Is a battlewing that much better than a tourance?

At the risk of debunking the myth that all Englishmen are limp-wristed wimps.......

Much depends on road surface. I've never had more than 4,700 miles out of a rear Tourance and a bit less out of a Dunlop D607 on my two 1200s. Our fine, abrasive and grippy road surfaces do a much better job of ensuring short tyre life than the slick road surfaces of Englandshire.

Well I'm still a n00bie so you will have to cut me some slack - besides, I save my less limp wristed riding for when I'm playing on the HP2

In all seriousness - are they done in such a short space of time through shear lack of tread left or are they too squared off? I'd be happy to trade tyre life for grippier roads

Centre tread all but disappeared, getting squared off as well. Can't comment on how the compare with other tyres as I've never had a big 'trailie' before.
